Post subject:  CC intro guitar tab
I tabbed the guitar solo from the intro.
I don't know if it's right or not (Because i'm not that good of a guitar player and its my first tab ever), but it sounds very much alike.

I'm having difficulties to figure out what the rhythm guitar is playing though :\

Anyway, here it is.

Kudos for doing this; I actually sat through the entire intro the other day and heard the guitar and thought about trying to tab it out myself; but I'm too lazy :P

Anyway; as a fellow guitar player I can't help but try and improve it, if you don't mind.

The first time I played the second part I thought it sounded a bit off; so I tried making the notes higher and it sounded a little cleaner; but then I played both your version and my version with the intro and they both sound equally good, but it's late so I couldn't turn the volume up as loud as I wanted to.

Actually, at first I tabbed it exactly like that, with the second part beginning on the 12th fret, but for some reason I thought it sounded off and changed it, but both versions sound good.

And it does sound better with a slide at the end.

I didn't even notice that... Well, I did point out i'm not a very good guitar player >_<

Anyway, what is left now is to figure out the rhythm guitar.

Because he would know; I'm sure he wouldn't assume without proper evidence, which clearly means Grif had to have stalked me to make sure I can't play guitar, before making his assumption; while I'm flattered, that's kind of creepy, Grif.

Tabs != playing guitar.

Playing guitar implies something more than a rudimentary knowledge of where to put finger and when to strum.

You see, when you're PLAYING guitar, you actually know what notes or chords you are playing.

Rather than COUNT TO THIS FRET HIT THIS STRING REPEAT.

Sure, when you put it like that, 'playing guitar' without sitting down and learning all the notes associated with each fret sounds simple, but there is so much information that I don't feel like learning it all.

Playing from tabs ('counting to this fret, hit this string, and repeat') actually takes quite a bit of skill and practice; learning all the extra stuff would definitely improve one's skill, but I play recreationally, not for any greater purpose.

grif i completely disagree with you in everyway here. I understand how you feel though, it does kind of take the "soul" out of the music. but tabs or not, your still playing guitar.

There were about 50 different definitions for play depending on how it was being used. That's why I put the number 35 before the definition to indicate it was the 35th definition in the list of definitions :wink:

I play the guitar, and know what note is what, and guess what, I use tabs. Reading sheet music is exactly the same, its "this is this note, that means this fret, strum once, hold for X time, strum next note"

Thats all any music is, its just the difference in the form it's written down in. I use tabs because I suck at reading sheet music. i have to sit there and count out in the sheet music, "what freaking note is that again?" every good boy does fine, FACE, wait this isn't using that squiggly $ thing...


You write out the music as e5 e5 e5 e6 - e5 e5 e5 f#6 - e5 e5 e5 g6- e5 e5 e5 a7 - Etc, and I'll know how to play it. so screw your tab bashing, all it is is shorthand of the above. I'm gonna try all of the above now to see.

I'm studying music at degree-level, and although my first study instrument is violin I also play guitar - I used to read tabs, but if you're trying to just cover a song and you're in any way decent you'll be able to pick up most short popular songs by ear. Tabs just convey notes and possible fingerings - its too simple to do anything else.

♥♥♥♥ vibrato markings, if you want to convey anything more than notes and fingerings use traditional staves and notes. Or just listen to it.
