How do you become anything more than a crabling?

Post subject:  How do you become anything more than a crabling?
This may sound noobish, but I have no idea how to change the picture under your name from crabling. Do you have to post loads? Do you have to have signed up for ages? Will somebody please shed light on the situtation.

Somewhere in the User Control Panel there's a field asking for your registry email, as in the one you used to register cortex command. If you bought the game and you fill that in, you become a trooper. If you bought the support package and you fill that in you become a brain. If you worked on the vanilla content at some point you are automatically an engineer anyway.
