Hey, I have been trying to sprtie a bit better for CC, and I have seen many different types of sprites (some so small I have never even seen before), and seen as I can't sprite that well (overall and at the size), can one just start big then decrease to the appropriate size? (Or start off only slightly bigger, etc.).

Thanks in advance.

If you want to sprite first and resize later, always go from big to small. It's very hard to fill in details when enlarging sprites, but very easy to eliminate them when shrinking.

Hmm, O.K, well I have just started an alien pistol, and it's a bit big for the game, so once finished should I just resize?

Honestly, you'd be best off if you just learned to sprite small. You are going to lose all detail if you are gonna shrink it.

Do a big picture, then do one that would fit into the hand of a coalition trooper. For a decent sized pistol, look at the base files.

Trivia: prom draws large images then shrinks them and finishes off detail.

Trivia: Capnbubs starts small and ends small.

Both sprites are awesome, so i dont know which would be better, depending on the style you would want.

or you could just find an appropriately sized vanilla sprite and sprite on top of it. its an easy way to start off figuring out the right sizes of things.

Unless youre planning to make like the MPAM or MARS, then thats a different story (not really)

I thought Bubs starts big too? Oh whatever. Also, I assumed he was talking about spriting large, as in not drawing ♥♥♥♥ with a tablet etc.

Well, for now it's just practicing spriting overall at the moment, and then I will try spriting down to really, really small :D SHould I save as .png with a pink background?

Trivia: Prom sez that when spriting for CC focus on large shapes, and not small ones because CC has "terrible" rotation script thing that makes you small loose details.

Trivia: Roon sez that when spriting large stuff, you should add lots of detail, shading works better that way.

What I'm practicing with now is major large, but it is relatively larger than normal CC sprites... Is that O.K?

no. unless you are actually drawing the image with a tablet or similar, you should start off at the right size. resizing it i guarantee you'll ♥♥♥♥ up your image. and for spriting things in CC, you need to have the image in palette. theres a sticky somewhere viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12442 <- go here, make sure youre image is in palette and the right size and then go from there. the biggest pain is trying to resize sprites, so just get it right the first time.

Aww, damn. That's a shame because I really like the sprite I have done so far :(
