Is data working to improve CC's stability? my game crashes shitloads, i hardly play it anymore because it's just not worth the trouble.

My game runs flawless. It's probably just your computer.

i'd think that if plenty of other people had the same problem i do.

3 ghz
1gb ram

shouldn't do this.

Err.... try adding more RAM?... Is it general instability or does it only crash with Cortex Command?

Needs more RAM, CC's a ram ladylike.

And yes, he's going to work on stability, as well as optimization, once he gets final engine features in.

You're about a year late for complaints about B22 stability, but yes, according to everyone that used B21 B22 is much less stable. I personally have never played B21, but my B22 has only ever crashed due to recursive gibbing and friends.

The IGF build seems more stable, but the old "ZOMBAHS ATE MY SETTINGS" crap happened and apparently the B22 settings differ from the IGF build, and lacking the install file for it I can't fix it and had to go back to B22. But I don't think Data is waiting to improve stability, and there may be something in the dev log comments about it.

Ugh, i hate that crap; taught me to keep a settings.ini backup because of how much this laptop randomly overheats.
And cornetto: is that 3ghz dual core or single core? on my 3ghz single core (piece of ♥♥♥♥) box CC barely runs well at 15 sim-frames-per-second and is horribly unstable, while on this 1.5ghz dual core CC runs happily, presumably cause its a newer processor. if you're using an old junky computer and trying to run CC you're going to get instability because of how much of a resource hog it is. that and 1gb ram is painfully low for CC.

Not necessarily. Cortex is strange in that it sometimes works like magic on otherwise horrible computers, and other times it stutters along on otherwise top-of-the-line amazing machines. However, I have noticed it works much better on multicore proecssors for some reason. Why, I don't know since I don't think Cortex is optimized for multicore computers, but in my experience it does.

Post Re: Stability
If you noticed the previous post, "better" isn't always "BETTER" for CC, as in newer but different hardware can make CC run worse than before (Plus not everyone has the money to upgrade their computer on command). And this thread is more about stability/CC killing itself, FPS is/might/can (NOTHING IS TRUE) be a different problem.

Also it might be worth mentioning that CC will give you errors sometimes that you can ignore and just click back into the game like nothing happened. I might be doing horrible irreversible damage by doing this but NOTHING will stop my eradication of all life on the planet. Except the more common errors that force you to quit CC.

i'm not complaining about fps i'm complaining about crashing.

my fps in CC is pretty good most of the time.

but most of the time it will just freeze and the error will either not come up or come up 10 minutes later.

i remember a few builds back i played epic games that were hours long, now i can hardly get through a skirmish without CC ♥♥♥♥ itself.
