coooll....
too bad its gonna die...
isnt it a bit unethical to make a living creature just to study it?

isnt it a bit unethical to make a living creature just to study it? It's artificial intelligence which uses biological material, not a baby And I wouldn't really care if it were a baby either, so long as the parent consents. Better than abortion, isn't it?

Well yeah, that's the thing, you can't even really call it a living being. It doesn't have a conscience at least.

Nobody but the machine thingy can tell.

Well, we can assume, seeing as it doesn't have an actual brain iirc.

It's highly unlikely to have a conscience as it looks like it has the brainpower of a lobotomised rat (literally).

Too bad its not really a biological brain. It's just a neural slime, for lack of a better phrase. They threw some neurons on some PCB in order to see what happened.
Hebbian learning is cool, I guess.

I honestly doubt that this would be qualified as real development in artificial intelligence per see since, as THOR stated, its a few cells on a pcb. But all things considered its better than nothing.

Actually, I think the point is that it is not "artificial" intelligence.

Re: Yet another step closer to Cortex Command in real life
You could find quite a few nomenclatures if you want, the point is that its a robotic interface with a semi-intelligent brain.

The most exciting thing I see about it is the promise of my cybernetic arm chaingun.

How about putting human brain into it?
Screw the morality and ethics. They just slow down science.
Nazis did good when they did those brutal human tests, no other guy could have done them.

Re: Yet another step closer to Cortex Command in real life
Science is studied to benefit mankind, and those 'petty' morals and ethics are part of what it means to be human. To throw one out in favor of the other is a paradox. Excuse me if this doesn't make sense in the morning.
