It's been said before, maybe with it's own topic.
It's probably never going to be in wide stream use enough to be worth implementing dual full-screen.

But, if you set your two monitors in vertical aligned display, but then actually set them side by side, you could have the top of the window, one players split side of the window, at the bottom of one monitor, and the bottom of the game window at the top of the other monitor.
Or at least if your computer can do a dual screen display like that; splitting windows and vertical alignment. I don't know much about dual displays myself, so I don't know if those are common capabilities.

I mean set the computer to vertical alignment, but don't actually set them up in vertical alignment, physically set them side by side. But if the computer is running with the intention of vertical alignment and you did that, you could have monitors for player one and two. Or one for players 1 & 3 and another for 2 & 4. That would be neat for small team matches, duo duals.

The controls for multiplayer are gonna be a pain in the ass still though, if you use keyboard controls. Which is why I would recommend gamepads if you'll be playing multiplayer much. Maybe between the players you'll just so happen to already have enough wired 360 controllers?

Ah.
I just mentioned them because I heard they work well as CC controllers, and it's not uncommon for someone to just happen to already have them for their 360 if they wouldn't already have enough gamepads for computer usage.

So do you understand the multi-monitor workaround thing I'm explaining, or should I make a illustration?

most of it. youre saying that i could keep them side by side but still vertical? i get that if they were up and down that you could do that, but side by side would have the ground going up, correct?
