Base sprites are honestly nothing too spectacular. The community has created and contributed far better art than the base game (which is most likely what was taken into consideration).

Additionally, the art isn't even innovative--its just pixel art.

The fact that the game is entirely physics-driven and very playable even in its incomplete state shows how utterly awesome of a job Data did.

I saw Cave mission gameplay video on igf . I dont have sucher red arrows as *protect* and *destroy* . WTF ?

Same here, I just love his spritework and general art. Very good stuff. Although, I'm no big fan of sprites that just rotate instead of animate when they change direction, it becomes all distorted at certain angles, although, no biggie. Game looks great still :)
