I have now gained a restored faith in this game's modding community. I just had the most fun with this game that I have since B13. 3 Absolutely Epic battles in a row. I used 1 mod only, and no other content. The AI used one other mod only, and no other content. I only used this the Bear federation the AI only used the emporeans I mostly used the rpg, and gauss, with... i cant tell which actors I forget the names. the AI used AaronLee's activities. Im gonna swap around the AI so that its the reverse next, and pretend I'm defending black mesa or something. Here's the contest.... BAMBADADA DUN DAHHHHH!!!!~~~~ Contest? I havent figured out how to judge this contest.... This is the contest of awesome. the EPIC contest. here's how it works Pick a faction. this faction can be from a mod or vanilla. this is your army. pick another faction. same rules... this is the AI army. Create an activities.ini for the AI, so they ONLY use that faction and that factions weapons. craft is unimportant. play 3 games with those rules, and nothing else, On any maps, 3 of the same, 3 random maps, whatever. Rate each fight in how epic it was, AND how fun they where. In other words, How awesome is it, how intense it is, and how re-playable is it. Post your combinations. If it uses a mod, Link the mod. If you made an activities, Upload it. The goal here, is that, by posting eachothers epic choices, we can try to figure out, what the all time most epic battle is, what the most intense battle is, and what the most enjoyable for replay battle is. The winner of this contest of EPIC AWESOMENESS is NOT the posters, but rather the 2 factions that make the best combination. If the faction(s) is/are a mod, the mod maker, is also a winner here, for making such an epic/intense/replayable mod. Pics if you'd like, and I can't think of a prize, because saying '50 billion internets to the winner' is kinda lame. |

I am fully in support of this. Because you can never get enough epic content. |

Whoops, didn't see that there. Ignore this. 105% behind this idea. I recommend that everyone avoid using superweapons as it cheapens things. Also, I think that bunkers shouldn't be too complex, or else it defeats the purpose. EDIT: I testedTheir Guys from the Our Guys Pack against the Coalition. It was... meh. Their Guys are explosive heavy, and the Coalition, while packing extensive heavy firepower, lack a decent automatic weapon. |

I use the 'Our Guys' mod's 'Their Guys' against the Diemos Federation. It's difficult but fun! Scavenging the weapons is difficult though, because 9 times out of 10, the dead soldier will crush the one he was holding. |

I would like to try my hand against their guys. |

It was a fun enough experiment, but yeah, to call Our Guys a faction is a bit of a stretch to say the least. It was more of a xtra large mod pack which accomplished its mission of getting me familiar with CC modding. Glad you guys gave it a shot though School's starting, and I haven't modded in a while (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is awesome btw). We shall see! |

I haven't tried this out, and I probably won't (since I have bad luck/skills with activities.ini, crashes every time I change it), but I thought it'd be REALLY fun: Use Ronin, against Bear Federation. It would be like defending your rebel base from government forces, in Russia, if you use the Icelands map too. Using low tech weapons to fight waves of conscripts, special forces, and armored power suits. It's gonna be epic. Or...You can do the other way round, using high-quality weapons and troops to defend yourself from waves of rebel attacks. I just think these two factions fits in with each other very well. |

I normally play vanilla equipment and soldiers vs. the emporeans because that's pretty easy and relaxing (even on death) but after seeing this thread I thought it might be fun to play against a really hard mod. I chose the coalition, and for the computer, AAL (activities.ini already in the file). The map was Horizland (which for future reference was too small) Needless to say I didn't manage to get past half an hour, but it was one of the most insane games I've ever had. I'll never underestimate the usefulness of a rocket full of frag grenades ever again EDIT: Reread your post and saw you had suggested 3 games so I played two more. The first was In Battlegrounds. I was more successful in this then the last game. I made a much larger bunker with tight turns and had a light soldier with a rocket launcher sitting on the top of the mountain, picking of the small enemies that made it through the rocket explosions. Death at about 20 minutes (it was a higher difficulty then last time) The last battle was back in Horizland hoping to put my new experience to the test with the death difficulty. Quick and painful 5 minutes. The first two pictures show the result: The sheer mass of the enemy soldiers caused massive holes through the earth which was the source for most of the enemy deaths. Awesomeness = 4/10 Losing because you can't pour enough rounds into an enemy is annoying, not fun Intensiveness = 9/10 I was struggling against a never ending wave of indestructible metal! Replay Value = 6/10 I'll really have to be in the mood for a challenge to attempt this again Total epicness = 6.3 In the end it was good, but it wasn't as epic as expected. I find my normal battles are better overall (third picture: coalition vs emporeans on a map from mappack 3) |

Jeeze. I don't think I'd try to fight MPAMs and AAL Marines like that. DSTech may have overpowered weapons, but at least the units don't take 50000 hits to kill them... if you can damage them anyway. I'll have to mess around with some setups myself when I get my new laptop. |

I want to see someone do DS against AAL. |

for the record, can we have a rule about posting .bmp screenshots? its a tad cruel to those of us with fail internet. i might try this, but it seems a lot of work for little reward. vanilla vs. vanilla works well. |

You do have a point. .bmp is an awful format for posting images. GIF, PNG or JPEG(ew, artifacts) would be better, space wise. But that would work better as a recommendation. |

Alright im going to throw myself into this. ill go dummy versus ronin without allowing myself to order anything. 1st game i made an incredible underground bunker on a map called battlegrounds. and killed many ronin, too many my outside defenses were so well made none of the ronin could get in. 2nd made a small bunker on grasslands with two sets of stairs leading to a rocket silo with my brain down below. it got oblitrated withen five minutes my outer perimeter was destroyed leaving me with 3 and a half dummies, half a destroyed dreadnaught and one half dead door leading to my brain. i held out for so long with these few units the kill count for enemies went to 764. 3rd made a awesome tower bunker with brain at the top. within about 5 minutes a supersonic rocket went through the wall and killed me. |
