Does the AI try to avoid death hotspots, or line of fire?
Playing skirmish on the zombie cave level, I had the cave set up as my base and a sniper covering the entrance. Enemy bodies soon piled up in the crater outside. Even though the terrain was still perfectly traversable, the AI eventually stopped coming across the crater and tried a different route of attack. Sneaky.

One thing is certain: the AI is bullet-aware.

I think data added something to make them dig on occasion. They do it in grasslands as well.

Amen, and now that they wield grenades, eh... the blood is going to fly on both sides now, and final statement, the reaction is like that of MGS, so I'm going to guess that someone will make a MGS mission.

First, when the AI "Suspects Anything" (Jet pack noises, bullets etc.) it just starts crawling.
I set an enemy guy to follow me, and it was all well and good, and then, I JetPacked, and his head was against the ground faster than you could say "Exclamation mark"
Also, I think the Path-Finding has gone a little screwy. I set a guy in a Hole shaped like this |_| and he always digs through the wall towards it's goal instead of jumping out.

The new AI defense works by detecting harmful particles inside a proximity zone.

They don't register explosives as dangerous though.
I am trying to get a dummy grenade launcher round to balance on an AI units' weapon until it detonates. I've come pretty close.

If you balance a big enough gib on an actors gun, they explode.

I love how the dummies always duck when you try and sniper them.
The new AI is great, my usual tactic of flying in and shooting them all before they have time to aim is nowhere near as effective! It's actually hard! Hurrah!

Now available in CORTEX COMMAND! You'll have SO MANY GIBS! 500 GIBS!!! AND the AI will Duck as fast as KENYANS! and people will think the AI are KENYANS! but because they are a game they Wont get deported back to KENYA! Cortex command AI! They drink Powerthirst.

They don't recognize the explosives created by the dummy grenade launcher. They ignore them completely. That is what I meant.

Friggin' Miles.
And retarded AI, I've seen them randomly explode in hordes as they picked up active explosives, I am so convinced to play grenade tennis, by using a stationary grenade launcher guy, and a reppeller rip-off.
And there goes another idea, I'll wait and see if anyone snags the mod-bait.

The grenade should go off when it goes past the back of the court rather than on a timer.

Re: Does the AI try to avoid death hotspots, or line of fire?
I think Data said before that the AI record killspots and then avoids dangerous areas. Unfortunately, in a 2D map that will usually mean digging under them.
