all notepad does is text. and guess what, mods are coded using text, notepad is the simplest way of modding. a program that will magicly convert old code to the current build's code doesnt exist. i suggest you take a look at the mod making section stickies, you should be able to learn how to do it your self from there. |

Standard notepad will do everything you need. Notepad++ is overkill for editing .ini's. |

Notepad++ has a useful feature: find and replace 'in all opened files.' It makes converting much simpler: 1) Open all the .inis that need to be converted in notepad++. 2) Press "Ctrl + H." 3) In "Find What," type what varaible needs to be changed according to this page. 4) In "Replace With," type the corresponding "New" variable. 5) Hit "Replace All in All Opened Documents." 6) Repeat the process for all the variables that need to be changed within the .ini. Hope that helps. |

CandleJack wrote: Would it be possible to make a macro for Notepad++ that does that automatically? Notepad++ has a macro tool, but I haven't ever used it. I'll bet it's possible, though. EDIT: Halkon, here's the converter program: Link Load the conversion file first (included), then the file that needs to be converted. |

The mod I'm trying to convert doesn't work when I use the program, it's the advancewars mod. |

Or it could be a problem with my converter. Does it error while loading the mod, or does it not work in gameplay? |
