I see in the Official forum that people are trying to think of reasons why the brains in CC have to land on the planet to fight off and lead attacks, but build bases and such from the comfort of space. So here's one- Maybe there is a type of wavelength that disrupts the complex, long range communications that are required by the brains to control operations from space. This wavelenght is effective at long range, and generators (Radar dish thingies?) are easy to get ahold of, but is used rarely among brains because it is expensive to run for any major length of time (Hold-out-for-a-certain-lenght-of-time missions, anyone?), and it isn't discrimantory- no brain would be able to control their minions in that area. So the brains spend most of their time chilling out in the space station (government-controlled, neutral ground for all brains?), fighting for territory and gold remotely (And without any risk of personal harm), but when things get personal a brain might use the wavelenght thingymabob to lure a rival brain out onto the law-less planet to kill him. Spoiler: Maybe the AI controlling the planets defenses (as explained in that thread in the official forum) has its own, super large network covering the planet (Same as what the brains use to protect their bases, but on a larger scale?), so it can broadcast the wavelength but still control units without needing a "brain" nearby. Perhaps a mission could involve taking out one of the network's hubs deep underground, so they can't control units in that area? Brain fart - thanks for reading |

Also, long-distance transmissions take a little while, you would suffer lag in commands if you gave orders from space, esp. in the case of direct control(as opposed to letting them run on their own like when you aren't using them.) |

hmm.... what about the mega brains all all stored in cryo things (bit like Futuramas heads?) and they send signals to the "working brains" on the planet? that would explain it for the lives system (if there is one) and that when it blows up you dont die permanantly... |

Since when did humans have 'mega' brains and 'working' brains? |

maybe then it could be the last level you have to kill the "mega brain" of the robo-alien-whatevers? |

The aliens should have something like that... |

and it's all green and stuff.... maybe it has a gun under it and the last level is solely devoted to the mega brain! (it can fly?) |

Defeating a flying brain would leave me scarred for the rest of my life. |

Kinda, yeah! But with regret that I didn't pick the blue brain to defeat. |

How about simple tasks like building a bunker, can be programmed into the robots that are sent on autopilot, but touch-and-go situations, like combat and gold mining, must be directly controlled by a brain within the atmosphere. |
