Hi, I'm running the newest version on OSX mountain lion and ctrl + O (and the other variations like cmd + O) don't seem to activate timescaling..... does anyone know anything about this? I always play with it on and it's hard to play without it.

The ability to toggle that setting seems to have been removed from the game engine some time ago.

I've given up playing this on my dual-core 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo laptop. It runs fine on my quad-core Core i7 desktop (2.8GHz stock, overclocked to 4.2GHz), but I prefer to play 2D games on my laptop while watching TV :P

Edit: For clarification, I'm on the PC version, but I'm sure it's similar to the Mac one.

is it possible to emulate a different keyboard inside of MAC OS X? Or can it use non-MAC OS X keyboards?

From what the guy above me is saying, Data took this out of the game (which I find hard to believe), so it doesn't matter than I'm on a mac.

Correct. Look at the bottom of page 4 of this thread for independent confirmation.

What is time scaling?

its not ctrl + P and then you hit I believe comma to switch the update sim frame to something else.

He's talking about Ctrl+O, which is actually supposed to toggle "one sim update per frame".

After looking through this thread again, I noticed that someone posted that there may be a way to toggle it via a console command: viewtopic.php?p=282375#p282375

Oh right, I just remembered: I can't get the console to open either! It's ~ to open it, right?

/ <--- forward slash

works for me too

and yeah they removed the sim update control.

EDIT: you hit 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 keys to mess with sim cap and stuff.

Is there a way to do it in the terminal?

Code:
TimerManager.OneSimUpdatePerFrame = true
should work. replace true with false to turn it off. if it doesnt, try 1 and 0.

Nope, this doesn't seem to work either. The Ctrl+P menu always says "ONE Sim Update Per Frame!"

I tried that too and I couldn't tell if it worked, which leads me to believe that it didn't. Things did slow down when I set off a lot of bombs (is that normal?), but it still didn't have the smooth feel of earlier builds.

EDIT: Things slowed down with bombs when I turned it off, so I guess it is normal. I'm pretty smart. :P

I have a monstrous computer with an eight-core processor. Despite that, Cortex Command--no matter how I mess with the delta-timing or the resolution--is an absolute lag fest for me.
