Yes, yes, we all know that a gun pack contest would be very not good. What other good contests have we suggested in the past?

Re: Modding Theme of the X Time Period *Contest Over!
I've been busy the past few weeks, which is why there are some delays. An idea someone proposed, concerning a different way for modders to compete in the contest: Quote: Instead of it being where people submit their mods to a central contest pool, we have it so everyone submits their names for the Modding Duels and they would be randomly paired up, and then they would all have to create a mod to a certain theme, and then only the pair's mods would be compared. The winner of that round would proceed up a level where they would be paired up again, and they mod for a different theme. That would continue on until they reached the final round where just two modders compete for the grand prize with the final theme. Imagine a pyramid style competition/tournament like this: Imagine that as the modders rise up through the tiers, there would be different themes for each round. Not only would this help create a short burst of mods, but a continued flow of mods until the competition is over. Just a suggestion right now, but if you are up to hosting it, I believe it could be epic. What I'm worried about this idea is that it would need a large amount of entries to make it interesting, and the contest usually gets only about 5 on average. Next contest will start sometime soon, and I'll think about the subforum idea.

Re: Modding Theme of the X Time Period *Contest Over!
Other than the necessity of having a larger number of modders to enter, it also has the disadvantage that in as the weeks go by fewer and fewer modders can participate, and might feel a bit left out and impatient for the winners to hurry up and win so the next tournament can start.
One of the things I really like about it, and liked about the older contests, is that it is new content on the selected theme, rather than recycled content. As a newb modder it is pretty intimidating to go up against vets, but by letting the vets (or even a new modder) use work that has been in the works and updated and refined for months and months is kind of spirit crushing.
In any case, I think it a neat idea to at least try, and I would be willing to enter at least as fodder.

If you want an alternative, vs collabs would be pretty cool if you chose the right modders.

Ideally you pair people of similar skill levels with each other, so as to make the resulting mod congruent but still interesting.

Me and my friends all have mod contests at school. Nothing of this calibre, but fun nonetheless.

Egh, yeah, but that prejudging of people's status as modders could cause some disputes and stuff, I think it would be better to just let people's entries and their reception do the talking, and then any other factors would be equal or randomized. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the pyramid/bracket/tournament/whatever format, myself, but I'd still probably participate if it were a big contest with a good theme.

Re: Modding Theme of the X Time Period *Contest Over!
Talking about the Wild West... To promote competitiveness, why don't we have modder's duels? That is, a modder challenges another modder to make a mod with a theme. If some other modder want to join the fray, it's OK. Then the modders make their mods, and when it's finished, it's put on public scrutiny, and the public rate the respective mods. Whomever gets acclaimed better, they're the current champion. Then another modder may challenge the champion etc...

As long as the modders are at skill levels that mean they can effectively work together to make a decent result, it doesn't matter.

Re: Modding Theme of the X Time Period *Fire!
New contest up, themed Fire. Concerning the new contest running ideas, I'm thinking on getting some sort of test contest after this contest is over. I can only do it once I have a solid plan though, so feel free to chip in ideas. - News Alert -I need someone to serve as a back-up contest runner when I am unable to run the contest. If you're interested in this role, post here or PM me. Oh, and CaveCricket48 wrote: New No mods in "Mod Releases," in part or whole, can be used in the mod contest.
New Mods in "Mod Making," can be used in the mod contest if they were not entered before.
Some rule revisions.

What about minor mods released in the minor mod dump? Several of my uncompleted proof-of-concepts reside there.
