Well, from a programming/game design standpoint, any kind of network play - which LAN is invariably tied up with - plays second fiddle to basic game issues. Basically, a good solid game is required before one complicates the situation with the inherent difficulties of the intarweb.

LAN, personally, but I'd rather wait and get AI first. I mean, since it's essentially a 1 player game, you need to make it fun. But like 20 clones all controlled by different people would rock.

If it was internet instead of LAN, than that would be better than smart AI. But since it's only LAN, smart AI should come first.

Personally, LAN/Internet or whatever you want lol, shouldnt be iplemented. Just think... Theres no freakin point lol. Scenario:- Logging on---> Create game---> _____ has joined the game --->
Someone in the game drops a map wipe, Whole game over, not even started.
It could be put in if you could turn of certain weapons, e.g limit the sharpness allowed etc.

Or you could just host a pure server, so people can't use mods. (But implement some good ones into future builds, like the Spitfire flamethrower and the Fusion Reactor/Generator.)

He's said in several development releases that an expanded weapons and units package will come with the retail version.
