I beleive that metagame is the best and very smart solution. The opportunity for endless gameplay built atop of current content. What could be better? At least it's possible to deliver. Of course we all want super-quality hand-drawn missions like Zombie Cave. But their replayability is so low. Just look how many comments gets the best mission, and how many of them gets the best mod :twisted: Also I clearly remember that somebody called missions "torture chambers" and well it make's sense. Screw up a single time and you'll have to start again. They can amuse you when you're tired of skirmishing, but not for long. In my case everything usually ends watching two AI's beating each other. We have an awesome ultra-quality mini-campaign by TLB with story and cut-scenes and everything, how many times did you finish it? :)

What could be great are some fresh and complex activities playable on multiple scenes with some fancy prebuilt bunkers. Like maybe capture the flag, rush, conquest, assassination or squad death match you name it. That can add more value IMO. Also I though about some dynamic missions, where you just given some random objectives in the middle of the big battle. Like clear that bunker, kill that guy, shoot dropships etc. Freedom is the real beauty of CC, not some tightly scripted story made of cutscenes or "Press Q, now Press E, now Press Cmd+SysRq, oh the big boss have taken a hit".

And BTW I'm totally satisifed with almost everything in this game. There's not so many games that you play for years. Even if you play it via text editor )))

I am sure data would include Multiplayer if it was worth it to do so, already it is laggy on one PC, even though b27 may fix some of that, I doubt it fixes all of it, so how would that work on two PC's? plus I think data already said he would be happy do do so if someone stepped up who knew net code. What i'm most interested in is if CC will be open source sometime after its "Official" realease.

So after B27, you plan to look at how LAN multiplayer would work? That'd be cool I live in a house with two roommates and they were wondering if LAN would be added sometime.

Nope, by "next project", i mean next game project.. ie whatever we build with CVE. As for Cortex Command, After 27 we are going to be polishing everything that's already in, and adding very few new features, if any. We already spent 10 years on it, it's time to start with a new codebase so we can do these things properly from the ground up.

It's a new game so I'd expect. Perhaps he'll go the same route as Cortex and give out the first few betas for free and then when content revs up, have paid versions.

Are you talking about the build15 one, which lag my old laptop to hell?

People seem to be focussing on what was merely a side comment by me with this mission based campaign, honestly I mentioned it to hopefully get it seen by data as a possible 1.1 update/expansion, but I thought I better also use it to demonstrate a point.

The whole point of my post was that I feel like the base weapons and pricing are not distinct enough and there is too much choice (and you should know if you want to include strategy you do so by limiting resources and making certain distinct choices be preferable to others in certain scenarios). My proposal was to actually gut the current actors and weapons, focus on a set of fewer but more distinct weapons for each faction and in regards to the pricing, designs and functionality of the weapons focus on the pros and cons of the faction that they belong to, aka work out the faction traits and designs and build up the factions and their armouries based on these design charts instead of trying to work stuff into what's already existing and making even more of a mess out of it. I understand it may sound crazy to you seeing as how people were complaining about their not being enough content and the amount of work required is immense but a lot of this stuff has been piling up from the start of development, and all this newer content seems to have been knocked up without too much thought and for the sole purpose of shutting up players that were whining for content.

And I'm not asking anything of you data or thinking you owe me anything either, don't get the wrong impression, I just believe this would be the best thing for the project and that if you don't properly establish the factions in this way the game will never feel properly finished. (In fact the only thing I think I have ever whined about is when the jetpacks were nerfed and I still think that was a bad choice)
