Re: Odd Stratagems
I have a habit of going rambo, especially on dummy assault. Load up one high powered unit, be it a Darklone heavy, a nice mecha, etc, and give him plenty of guns...then charge in at the enemy
1 man army!
Bonus points if its also your brain charging in... xD

Re: Odd Stratagems
So the other day my sister and I were playing CC with the DSTech and AAL mods. As is her way, my sister started the game off by buying a bunch of money cheats, and I really hate it when she does that. So I tried something new to get back at her:
1) I picked up all the unexploded money cheats I could find with an AAL pilot 2) I bought a mind control device and equipped my pilot with it 3) I waited near my base 4) My sister ordered a DSTech Plagiarus and proceeded to abduct whatever she could find (including the money cheat loaded pilot 5) Once she had had her fun, she sent the Plagiarus back into space, immediately bankrupting her. 6) As she made futile attempts to redeem herself with a fresh wave of money cheats, I proceeded to annihilate her brain with nothing but a robot 1 and a Coalition pistol. I was broke at the time, too.
CC-style justice, OWN'd.

On Facing Worlds its very helpful to cryospray the enemy from the sky. When they are cryoed down, snipe them. Proceed to grab flags.

Do you guys realize that most of your "odd strategems" are shooting at people with guns?

Re: Odd Stratagems
Well, there is also another strategy I do when I'm bored... suicide mission. Basically get your brain to be untouchable (tomb it, surround it with BW killzones) and then order a soldier packed full of bombs or a plane full of bombs. Then single out the enemy's most dangerous/important unit, and go KAMIKAZEEEEE. Works really well if you use the Cordyc, in Zombie Cave. Mmmm delicious.

Phoenix clone modified to have an infininade by default. Explosive propulsion into the sky. Cover dropships with grenades from above.

Re: Odd Stratagems
When building my base, I start off with an elevator going down to my brain vault, and then a single Coalition Heavy with a heavy sniper to guard it. In the meantime, I order in rocklets loaded up with stones. They are cheap, and very heavy. If you want a redneck bunker buster, do this with a drop crate and toss in a few explosives of your own preference. Seriously, these things will burrow through concrete. If you want an accurate explosion, just scuttle when desired.

Re: Odd Stratagems
This thread is a bit old, but whatever. I don't have very much of a strategy, I just usually give one of my Russian Troopers a Ballistic Knife, and lie in wait above a crevice of something, and impale my enemies in their necks as they pass underneath.

Re: Odd Stratagems
Dude, my always common LOL stragety is placing a brain vault on top of the screen, so that the brain is not visible, but you can see it's hud. Then, the enemies can't destroy your brain. I also set an MDC Brain Vault in the lowest part of the screen, and the same thing happens. Sometimes I create some traps, like putting a couple of frag grenades inside the space between the door and it's motor, so if the door gets destroyed it will probably kill the actors, placing a couple of ladders really near with some frag grenades in between blocking some tunnel, so if any opponent tries to go through it, it will probably destroy them.
And the most important thing, when I create a base, in the highest part of the screen on top of it, I place a lot of walls, so enemies won't unload troops on top of my base.

Re: Odd Stratagems
I like to load up a Dummy Behemoth with a few pages of napalm grenades, and then charge into the enemy bunker. The Behemoth's vitality keeps him alive from all of the enemy fire, and once I get into the brain vault, I spam my grenades until one explodes, and then watch my Behemoth, along with a large portion of the base, go up in flames (literally). It looks like a movie explosion with all of the flames racing down the tunnels, devouring all of the little foot soldiers placed throughout.

Re: Odd Stratagems
Another thing in a similar vein to the crushinator is that I like to hide C4 under foreground tiles. I usually connect it to a good old grenade-in-the-top-compartment-of-a-door and use that as a switch. Guys shambling down the hallway towards my brain bunker? Leap towards the door, it crushes and explodes a grenade (Pineapple Grenades work best) which sets off a chain reaction of C4, showering any unlucky saps in the hallway with concrete and fire. It widens the hallway quite a bit allowing for an easy escape with my brainbot.

Whatever happened to just a man and his digger?
Make it a Dummy so that the digger is also powerful enough to propel you in the opposite direction of the digging. Makes for easy aerial acrobatics.

Quote: In my dreams I am the grenadier it is me! There is a reason why I like Red Loki's Weapons, and the Lazarus Brigade's Revenant [It is great at holding off enemies].

I do the same thing with the actor-change keys. Also, I use Hypercam for my videos of Cortex Command. It records sound, so it rocks!
