Re: Planets Name??
It's alright as far as naming, but I don't like the general idea of tradestar guarding sections so noobs have some training grounds. I see no reason why they would want to guard anything for the sake of peace, their business is war supply. I've always seen tradestar as being like the thriving businesses that followed the Californian forty niners. Just like everyone else, they're there for money, but they go about it by supplying the gold prospectors at monopolistic pricing. I think the more tame and mild areas should be such simply because they have less gold to fight over, so there's little want to take over the area by the big dogs. Low risk for low reward, and vice versa. Conquering the trade star in betrayal after wiping out every other faction, giving you their profits as well as the entire planet full of gold, would be a pretty great campaign ending.
Edit: Notice how old this post is; we had no idea how the metagame was gonna be at this point.

Re: Planets Name??
In the "beginner" sections, the amount of gold in a map is crap. Combat is very occasional. Here TradeStar hires prospectors to silence other prospectors, however on the outside they supply both sides. This makes commanders spend more for their products, and secures potential permanent buyers. You can't really have an army here. This part here determines which prospectors get to live on or walk away empty. Its something of a chain of trials, players can choose to remain here, but the game won't progress.
In the "intermediate" sections, the amount of gold in the map increases, you'll see more combat in this part. You can almost do whatever you want here, here your actions determines your standing to TradeStar. I kinda want to see faction mod users start off here in this side first, most of the custom factions are usually not supported by TradeStar, using a third-party faction increases the combat chance. In the other cases, mercs (like Kloveska) cost more money. You'll get to fight the (possible) white bots from TradeStar. TradeStar wants everyone to buy from them anyways, so becoming a threatening presence evokes their wrath.
"Hard" sections have a lot of gold, enemy prospectors are well armed, and well funded. You get the idea.

Re: Planets Name??
No it's not called midas.
Midas is the name of the tradestar space station class orbiting the planet.

Also, Skeggy, don't you have to be at least 13 years of age to be a registered user on these forums? Bring this up with a moderator or with Skeggy himself, there's no point in doing this publicly. -Duh

Isn't everything bought thought Tradestar but most of it is not their stock its someone else's but Tradestar just gets a percentage of the profits since everything is bought through their catalogue and fired form their space station.

We could just go the Alpha Centauri way and call the planet "Planet"

Re: Planets Name??
i second that.
who gives a ♥♥♥♥ about the planet, we're here to strip mine it and move onto the next one.
it needs a really heartless name like a string of numbers and letters.
well normally in sci fi it's letters than numbers. it makes more sense and you always hear them say "approaching fma-26-63" they never go "approaching 302 jmi"
