So, would a mortar look like this? If so, it seems like it would be possible, but how can it calculate the trajectory when the shell can have thrusters and crap on it?

The game-pad needs to be able to move across the map more quickly while holding the next/last unit button.
I have been playing a ton of cortex command with a friend for weeks now, and it's a severe disadvantage when he is ten times as mobile on the map than I am.
Could you make it so that holding just one of the buttons (next/last unit) gives you the movement you have now, and holding both buttons gives you accelerated movement? Or at least something similar...it'd be a big improvement.

I suggest buffing all units strength and how many bullets they can take. Make the rocket launchers stronger. Everything should be more Extreme. When a ronin is shot is skin should come off. Maybe a clear exit wound too. Have him flinch and grunt but not be delayed to shoot back. When coalitions are shot you should be able to see armor bits come off until the unit has none left. The robot gibs are sexy as hell and this should be applied to all actors. As stated before, the dreadnaught should get just a little buff. The acual gun needs to be stronger and changed from just a modified smg.

Cortex Command needs mechs. They would also need huge special dropships dedicated for heavy equipment. Dreadnought needs taller legs, they can barely move.

I remember hearing somewhere that the Dreadnaught would be just about the largest unit in the game and no other vanilla content would be bigger

Stronger limbs. Realistically, someone's arm doesn't fall off if you shoot them in it a few times.
