Actually, this part is similar to what I had the Ronin do. The crater in the Zombie Cave mission is from a crashed Alchiral transport carrying VAT tubes (or, specifically, the chips which control the tubes.). I didn't finish drawing the crashed ship parts though. The Ronin's luck ended when they failed to control the generation process. Hence mad Bombies. There was supposed to be traces of a Zombie - Ronin firefight (victor: Zombies), but I didn't finish any gfx for that either.

Then Uzira shows up and snags the chip before the owners are able to locate the crash site. Well, someone tries to stop her, but it's too late. This is how she gets her skeleton army. The brain bot used in the mission is supposed to be Uzira (who is not disembodied).

Well, that's a bit of a spoiler. I have something longer written down for the story section. The mission is meant to have a few intro and extro slides.

---

Hacking could indeed be interesting (I'm a fan of Paradroid), but it's one of those things which... we can't put on the priority list.

Prom, the amount of thought you put into this is really amazing. Additionally, I'd hafta see this is the most information we've seen in a loooong time.

Oh and Arne, what the hell was you smoking when you made the palette?
It has like seven grays that have duplicates of themselves with a tiny bit of saturation changed and things like that.
I would love to go through the hassle of recoloring a bunch of mods if just for a better palette.

For some reason most of the pictures aren't appearing on the page, they simply have words with a red X on the right side. Any help?

It is really awesome to get some backstory for CC. Though there are two things that bothers me a little. First, it sounds like ronins won't have a big role for the game, other than random dudes.

Second is that i always thought that the dummies were an ancient race that was the last remains of an ancient civilization on the planet we fight on, and that the civilization was destroyed by the same accident that eliminated all wildlife, but crabs. It'll would also explain why dummy drop ships look so much like crabs, and that they use a crab-like construction on their dreadnoughts.

I can easily change my view of dummies to the new, but i just wanted to give my opinion.

This was aimed at something a page or so back btw, got mixed up with the reply and a million ninjas and was rushing.

I love how there's literally a necromancer on the moon. <3 CC

Some ideas I had for Ronin to be a more major playable Tech*, is that they are not some outcasts, but an organized mercenary union of normal humans that specialize in guerrilla warfare, use 21th century weapons with a mix of some new gadgets that are designed for the guerrilla tactics. They would have a whole system how their bunkers work (living quaters, edible food/water, toilets...) so the Ronin would really feel human.
As for troops, the idea was that there was female soldier (light, ninja class) and male soldier (heavy, brute class) that would have randomly generated heads. So in the end result, there wont be specific named soldiers, but rather an unlimited amount of different female and male soldiers that all go by the name "Ronin Fem/Male Soldat".

And instead of having brain implants or other creepy stuff like that, they are commandeered by a Commander Soldat (brain unit) through wireless ear piece communicators that give the effect of like you are commanding them like troops, and less like puppets. On AI mode, they'd also feature a more thorough AI behaviour compared to say.. the dummy soldier.

As for supplying new troops, they are never grown on the field, instead they are grown like normal humans and then trained at the mercenary unions facilities after which they are sent as prepaid mercenaries from space. And no, Tomaster, growth hormones is probably the most unethical idea I've heard so far. Worse than baby killing.

*Techs: As the game is being developed more towards the metagame, the whole idea of factions is making less sense (Dummies using Techion weapons and vise versa as you can buy and build anything) and thus, there are Techs instead of Factions that represent companies that sell their services; The player chooses his Tech that makes a contract with that company and they use it, but they are also able to buy products from other techs, at higher black-market prices however.

wtf unethical is barely worth bringing up when you're talking about the practices of a master enclave upon a slave sect. I'd also count shooting up on HGH quite a few steps above infanticide, personally. I'm confused about your moral code, numgun.

That story makes the ronin feel more like the coalition than anything (lol resprite) but a lot more "humanised". I do like them being rebels, but it would be "fun" if they were a somewhat grim outlook on humanities future, no? Maybe the two ideas can be fused into some sort of fascism meets anarchy paradox?

Coalition is a strict military force that has some resembalance to Half Life 2's Combine Civil Protection. Faceless soldiers fighting along side various machines and using similar tactics in battle. The weapons and tech they use are far more advanced than any Ronin weapons combined.

The whole structure of Coalition and Ronin is entirely different and they play VERY differently from compared to each other. I wont reveal more than that.

As for moral, its very clear. The game is comical and colorful in appearance and features bloody gore like an entertaining commercial. Growth hormone abominations, baby killing, forced chemical mutation, starvation, horrible mutilation torture and similar ♥♥♥♥ up grim dark universe stuff is something that is a big NO in the game. Its just splat, gibbed blood everywhere lol funny kind of stuff. The game tries to be realistic in some sense, but not OH GOD MERCY APOCALYPSE ARMAGEDDON ABOMINATION EVERYWHERE.

I remember grif once saying that violence and gore is more accepted by people as entertainment than, say... baby slaughter. Theres a very clean moral going on in here, I dont see how did you come to that conclusion as you did.

What Arne is doing right now, is creating a universe where the game takes place in and has made a rough storyline (You come in, mine gold and battle, find and awaken skeleton girl, mu-ilaak comes, shitstorm everywhere, epic battle) that was the original idea of the game. However, Data is lately pushing more for a Metagame that works like a board game of sorts that has a universe, but no solid story that it follows. Like the tabletop game "Risk".

The idea is that we make the Metagame that you may replay endless times like a skirmish in RTS games, except much more cooler and complex (take turns, mine gold, fight battles, explore areas).

After this has been done, there is a chance that we will expand the game further to create a storyline campaign that Arne here is cooking up. Possibly even more than one storyline (and modders can make their own storylines and Techs) and additional factions as long as DaTa will make the system to be modular and flexible for that.
