Re: Faction Clarification
Yeah, there has been a lot of expectations. Let's hope he doesn't snap under the pressure of a forum-full of expecting fans.

If he hasn't snapped from our whining, I don't think he'll snap from anything.

Jackal: where did you get the contents of that post? I am fairly sure that posts from Prom and data have laid out a picture which varies vastly from what you posted.

Re: Faction Clarification
The Imperatus aren't "out-of-the-ghetto." They are a conglomerate of several massive corporations to get more natural resources.

Oh, I'm sorry Kicktar. I thought it sounded like a personal attack, so I went into the defense.

411570N3 wrote: They don't hire the factions in the capacity of inter-faction warfare on the surface, they just provide facilities to them. I realize this. I never said they hire factions to battle each other, I was referring to Techion, and occasionally Coalition, that gets hired by FreeTrade as escorts, and as defense on the TradeStars. 411570N3 wrote: They have a different design philosophy for their products, but they are still as much of a company as Techion. When I read the webpage, all of the links for the pictures of the Imperatus were broken. I had to base that area off of the text describing the faction. Promster stated that they are comparable to "Ogres", and their color scheme would be "Black and rust". Without pictures, that sounds pretty grubby. 411570N3 wrote: Their rate of occurrence in the storyline isn't mentioned I agree. Sorry about that. 411570N3 wrote: Where did you get this from? Did you even read that part about them? It said that they prey on unprepared colonies and transports. Also, they use bodies belonging to convicts, or people that have gotten into the the wrong crowd (and got lobotomies). "Wrong crowd" is plainly referring to the Ronin. 411570N3 wrote: Who makes them out to be helpless and underdeveloped? They are underdeveloped because they ride around in rusty old scrappers of transports, and use antique weapons. I'm honestly not sure where I got helpless. Maybe because they have no TradeStar access, but I'm not sure. 411570N3 wrote: Where did you get this from? I made it plain that that was my own opinion. My opinion was based off of the previous interpretation of them being baddies, of sorts. 411570N3 wrote: It's implied she made a good deal of money from the large amount of warfare during her sleep. I'm not really sure about the Marauders from Red Faction: Guerilla, but I've got a feeling they're not meant to be seen as 'bad'. It wasn't even implied, but stated that she made her wealth due to stock ownership in Alchiral. Warfare wasn't mentioned. I never said they were meant to be "bad". I said they would help the player. If you have played all the way through Guerrilla, then you would know that the Marauders help the Red Faction towards the end of the game, once the two are at peace (not battling each other). 411570N3 wrote: It says the factions will gang up on them, not that they will fight alongside each other in the final battle. What are you even talking about? Ganging up implies that they will fight a common enemy, or for a common goal, and that is what teaming up means. Not sure how you misinterpreted that one.

Differing design philosophy does not mean different business practices. Jackal wrote: Did you even read that part about them? It said that they prey on unprepared colonies and transports. Also, they use bodies belonging to convicts, or people that have gotten into the the wrong crowd (and got lobotomies). "Wrong crowd" is plainly referring to the Ronin. It says they use the resources that Tradestar's neglect generates. 'Wrong crowd' is plainly not referring to the Ronin. You don't use a euphemism for a group and the name of the group in the same sentence - especially if that sentence implies the two are separate. Jackal wrote: They are underdeveloped because they ride around in rusty old scrappers of transports, and use antique weapons. I'm honestly not sure where I got helpless. Maybe because they have no TradeStar access, but I'm not sure. They are pragmatic in use of resources. They use technology similar to others, but in specific places where it cannot be substituted for cheaper alternatives. Jackal wrote: I never said they were meant to be "bad". Ganging up implies that they will fight a common enemy, or for a common goal, and that is what teaming up means. Not sure how you misinterpreted that one. You specifically mention a final battle with all the factions fighting them at the same time.

Re: Faction Clarification
411570N3, I admire you in many ways as member of this forum, and I don't want to be on bad standings with you. A flame war need not erupt from my foolish and opinionated interpretation of that whole webpage. Forgive me for backlashing, it is a bad habit that I need to get out of. I see everything you are saying, and I admit that I interpreted most of that in my own way, which was not necessarily factual, nor legitimate. I'm sorry.

I just find it hard to believe you all arguing so much over something that has so little actual content. D:

Re: Faction Clarification
True, but it can only be outdated if new concepts were established. I've yet to see any recent concepts from any of the Dev team that refers to any upcoming vanilla content.
