Thanks banana, I'll definitely stay tuned for updates and I'm looking forward to what this game will become.

Well, Data for the first 5-7 years [i believe?] had an actual job, he just [sorta] recently quit his job and lives off the revenue of Cortex Command, now this game is obviously for the more open minded gamer or for the a specific group of gamers.

And he's apparently now in some debt. Not for long, given the bundle sales.

I don't really see the ground breaking physics your talking about, I had these same physics back in Age of empires III in 2005, and its gotten insanely better since than. Physics aren't really the problem here, its AI mostly. I don't get why people are jumping down my throat about this.

Datarealms aren't geniuses.

And don't be so pretentious to say that WoW is the most boring game ever, while I myself have never played it, 10 million people do. While it doesn't match your taste it sure caters to everyone else.

You can't see the physics? Seriously?

Man, pretty much everything in the game uses physics to work, the actors themselves actually USE their legs to walk in this game. While that makes moving around a bit clunky at times, it fits the feeling of controlling robots. You can also lose arms and legs, removing the ability to walk or hold guns.

Can you can another similar game that's done that?

Also, if you destroy one of a drop-ship's engines, it'll eventually spiral out of the control because the engines aren't there just to look pretty, they actually provide LIFT to keep it in the air.

Yeah, I'm sure Age of Empires had that back in 2005.

And WoW IS boring. Like most MMOs it's not made to be interesting, it's made to be addicting.

Don't quote stuff and not contribute anything on your own, it's just annoying.

Sure physics are fun and all, but physics don't sustain a game by itself...

Yes you can do a million things, that is obvious. And I'm sure that the game is very interesting for people who are willing to go and make their own levels and spent hours changing files to make their game playable. Point is, it's not playable for someone who just picks this up regardless of how open minded you jump into it.

Tbh I expected something like DF, also been in development for a long time, takes some effort to get past the graphics (or lack thereoff) and learning curve. But once you do get past that you'll find an amazingly solid and playable yet still complex game. this is just not the case for CC, shy for the complexity maybe. It feels like there is a huge amount of ideas, but they're just poorly implemented as a whole. It's like a puzzle with half the pieces missing and the pieces that are there don't really fit together properly.

I was super excited after playing the tutorial, but then it turned out that the tutorial is really the only scenario that is not broken. Either gameplay wise or technically wise, nearly all the other scenarios are just not playable. You can try and twist this however you want, but I don't think anyone objectively judging this game out of the box can get around this.

And all the people going 'trooooooooolllll!!'. I fully appreciate that you can play and enjoy the game, but the average person picking this up for a quick game will just be scratching their head after the first hour thinking 'where's the game part of the game'?

I don't know what the hell the design objective is currently (or has been during the past years), but I think that somewhere along the line development priorities got seriously mixed up.

Sincerely, the average new CC adopter

Sure, just tell me where to start. Because there are a lot for as far as I can see.

And then it might be worth considering incorporating the best mods into the game since they're apparently indispensable for enjoyment?

Agreed. B24 just feels broken in some respects.
Lots of lockups and broken scene editor. I can play B23 for hours with no problem, but with B24 it eventually hangs up mid-game.
Hopefully they fix it soon.

Which has been suggested multiple times, and that's why the Content Devs are from the community.

I'm not going to discuss this anymore after this, but while Age3 might not of had as complex physics, it had full physics engine in a 3D game, cannon balls bounced and depending on where they hit troops they would fly in the air and bounce on the ground. Really had a great feel to it for your Average RTS game.
Also you should check out some newer games like Crysis, Red faction guerrilla (Physics in that game is simply stunning) The newest batman game has a great Physics system, punches land and knock opponents around. in Crysis you can punch and throw objects through others, In the expansion pack I've lunched a Humvee through the air by blowing out it's front tire with a .50 cal Emplacement, the way it tumbled and rolled was great. (Hitting it with grenade launcher was x2 as great.)

This game is great in the physics, but... its not the best I've ever seen. I respect the dev for what he's done with so few resources, and I'm not attacking your community. I'm here to point out that you need to see it how a new guy sees it, and help him out. Telling him to be more open minded simply won't help, and if you think I'm bad I hope you don't start getting xbox gamers flooding your forums.

In CC, you walk by moving your leg down, pressing your foot against the ground and then moving your other leg in front of the other and doing the same. Then you repeat this process to move forward. In Crysis, you walk by playing an animation and sort of floating forwards, in programming terms.

Also, in CC every pixel counts in the physics engine. Along with the fact that every pixel in the terrain can be displaced and you have destructible layered armor.
