Re: Performance limits?
maart3n wrote: People, CC only uses one core. Doesn't matter if you have a new hexcore or a pentium 4*. It's all about the Ghz of ONE core. On this note, 8gb of ram has nothing to do with it either. CC is 32 bit so it can only access up to 2 gb of ram. So really, nothing more that 3 gb of ram actually helps things.

Geti wrote: yeah ~.00106 is a rediculously low deltatime, that's almost 1k sim frames per second, which will make your computer ♥♥♥♥ itself ten times over. The default of 60 SFPS is too high for quite a lot of old computers, I'm unsurpised about your results. Read viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14593Also 720p is a silly resolution to run a retro pixel game. Please don't do stupid things and complain about lag. I understand that 720 HD is a silly resolution, but I have a 26'' screen, so anything too small is a bit unbearable (although 2x is a nice feature) the problem with running anything lower is that Mouse position registration or acceleration of the cursor is too choppy and doesn't pick up quite as well as 720 HD... Its very very choppy and inconsistent. I tried game pad but while that seems to be the best way to play this game, it just sucks at sharp aiming (I will however try my PS3 controller later to see if that will improve sharp aim)

Y'all are on crack, I can run at 1440x900 w/o lag on my Q9400 @3.2.

And it's unfair to play against the AI with such a high resolution.

Re: Performance limits?
Have you tried playing fullscreen? That usually cuts down on my mouse choppiness, that or culling the sensitivity temporarily while playing

Re: Performance limits?
Fullscreen 640x480 is the only way to play /oldschool cred No, seriously, it's the best way to play, all the backgrounds are made for this size.

Re: Performance limits?
Actually, the new hexcores are also significantly more efficient, not just more numerous. I play the standard resolution windowed, and with a slightly lower delta time, sometimes switching back for mods where delta time actually effects something. It's probably possible to just modify it so that they adapt to any delta time, but I can't be bothered.

My biggest lag problems are bombs and when more than 2 or 3 ships are trashed on the map

Because this is right!(although 720 450 is acceptable as well.16:10)

Any chance that Cortex Command will ever be optimized for multiple cores?
