Re: Cortex Command for Linux
I see. No Linux port coming. Everybody only cares about money. That sucks. People don't buy much Linux games, because there's no good games worth buying. And nobody makes the good games for Linux because they say people don't buy the game. Fortunately Link-Dead will be Linux-native (that's what they told). It's a game in progress, from creators of Soldat.

With fewer resources, there are priorities, and seeing as Linux is not a mainstream desktop OS, much less a gaming one, it's also not a priority. I'd love to be able to run Xbox 360 games on Windows but it's never going to happen. I'm not complaining. Different tools for different tasks.

Re: Cortex Command for Linux
The only company that made worthwhile Linux ports at the time was Loki, and they did Alpha Centauri and Heavy Gear 2 ports to Linux. They dedicated a long time to reverse engineer the source code for that and yes, it would take a long time. If Data wants to spend his time porting the game over to Linux, power to him. What's likely to happen though is he will focus on the actual CC game for a while. Maybe later when he's added all he wanted to add and got everything stable, then it's a maybe on him coding a port.

Quote: More copies of the game were sold via our website on the day the Linux version released than any other day. This day beat the previous record by 40%. There is a market for Linux games after all

Re: Cortex Command for Linux
I would surely buy CC if there was a Linux version... in fact I just registered here to say this To add to what RazZziel said, here are two more Linux success stories: Mystic Mine: http://www.koonsolo.com/news/?p=33Caster: http://elecorn.com/blog/2009/05/caster-is-hot-well-sort-of/I would be more than willing to pay full price even (Support Data Realm Edition)...

I'm sure if we could show Data the incentive of 1000 linux users paying $30 he'd be more than motivated to try and port it, but until then you're bashing your head against a brick wall. And we all know that hurts, and won't do anything. I speak from experience, possibly probably drunken.

Re: Cortex Command for Linux
Hi,
Is there any way to still buy the GNU/Linux version? I know it was released with the Humble Indie Bundle 2, but it seems impossible to get it now.
