Re: A question and a suggestion.
The water could simply be, like, this sort of thing in this set location (like zalo's water demo thing). So unrealistically, when you dig a tunnel toward the water, it would simply be there. However! When gibs fall on it, there would be waves and such and these said gibs would float and such until it reaches something which turns it into terrain just like it's supposed to. But that's just how I would imagine water in Cortex Command. [OFF TOPIC] Oh yeah... Geti wrote: great if you could glue gibs to yourself too. i am a clone, i am dressed in heavy metal plating, so i cant fly. but good news! the game is awesome because i am wearing the remains of a delivery craft! now i am wearing the meat of a zombie! hooray! obviously MOs would have to stay as not-terrain for longer. that and the dropship gibs would have to lose a lot of weight. totally impractical to code and implement, but totally awesome. oh wait, this isnt a wishlist. The first thing that came into my mind is Katamari Damacy.

Re: A question and a suggestion.
my idea of water would be an area that displaced a set number of "pixels" around MOs, and while inside the displaced area the MO would have applied air resistance (possibly dynamically linked to sprite size and mass) and globalaccscalar (depending on material and mass). upon entering and exiting the displaced area some effects (mosp and glow/mopixel) could be scattered about. that would be so cool.

Being able to pick up helmets and armor would be cool.

Water not feasible? Prove it.
I want particle water. I'd prove to you that you can or can't make Lua Particle water in Cortex Command, but I stink at Lua. The main problem for me is to get the water particle to refer only to other water particles within a certain distance, and not to it-self.
Then of course, there's the whole repelling/pressure thing between the particles. We don't need any complicated surface tension, and Smoothed Particle Hydro Dynamics, just a simple repelling force that only acts in a certain radius of each particle should do.
Make it. show me it's laggy, and I'll believe you.

Re: A question and a suggestion.
I found this webpage a few months ago, it shows some water script in C++. (Uses those bloody trigonometry stuff that I don't understand yet... ) Anyway it also links here. If you've learned learned them trigies check this out, don't know how useful it is to us. (CC's engine doesn't work the same, and Lua doesn't either) Oh well... (I think we should take this discussion to another thread)

Ha, if they added that I would make a godly Coalition soldier who would pick up mpams and throw them into drop ships (Provided that you can pick up objects of any kind including actors, crafts, gibs, and maybe even carry your brain out of the base if a robot isn't available to hook it onto.)
