What's a gamepad?

I'm joking, I'm joking, but seriously, CC is the first and last place I've ever heard of gamepads.

Unless you can plug x-box controllers into a PC these days. I don't know anything.

Xbox controllers, Playstation controllers, Gamecube controllers, N64 controllers, pretty much anything.

I use my PS3 controller. It's not perfect but it does it's job.

I find that gamepads are hard as ♥♥♥♥ to use on CC.

Though I am still inferior to the Keyboard only master race.

Keyboard is the ♥♥♥♥, you just can't beat it. The comfort, the classic CC feel, the power to use whatever ♥♥♥♥ crazy key layout.
Unless, of course, someone whoops up a custom-build controller made especially for whooping keyboard elitist ass in CC.

Though personally I never actually tried a gamepad/controller with CC, since i'm not a big fan of them.
I always found the keyboard ideal for anything in CC, never liked mouse controls either (Sharp aiming is terrible, that's the biggest flaw).

Also, shortcuts should most definitely exist, because they can be used with gamepads/controllers as well (Spare buttons and all that), and the best way to do it is to have 3 shortcut buttons that will vary between devices.

For example, on a regular firearm, one key will reload the weapon, another will change fire modes (If exist) and the third will discard the weapon. On the grappling gun, one will extend the rope, one will retract and one will release.

Simple as that, that way, shortcuts/special keys made with lua can be removed from pretty much everything.
It's a win/win, unless of course, you don't have spare keys on your gamepad, then you're kind of screwed. :/

Wow, how do you aim without a mouse?

I've played with the keyboard before for two player stuff, and it's pretty much impossible.

Uhhh... With the keys? :V
Might be just me but I got so used to the standard P1 layout that was back in B8 (When I first came across CC) that I never used any other layout ever since (Almost 5 years lol).
Except when i'm on the laptop, here I use the B8 P2 layout, which is the standard keyboard-only layout atm.

Keyboard elitists! I could woop their asses faster than they know.

The only downside to K+M is that your aim can be thrown off easily, where as just Keyboard can hone in on it and stay there.

But the expertise aiming is brought down by the lack of mobility

If I didn't have this stupid notebook I'd use keyboard only. The mouse can sometimes be very tricky and treacherous.

I'm generally a M&K guy, since it gives me quicker reaction times and is generally more comfortable.
However, over a decade of playing hard-core Liero has made me quite the ninja with Keyboard alone.

Pretty much what you said.
God it was fun putting the reloadtime to 0 and spamming nukes.

What percentage of players even use the split-screen feature? I never have. I'm really not happy that you deliberately gimped keyboard controls (for a PC game!) just to make gamepads viable.

Also, radial menus simply aren't responsive enough for stuff like grapple detachment, where timing is critical.

You can define key functions or whatever in lua, right? Can't you just slap some lines into the grappling gun .lua file?

You could just tap the fire key to detach the grappling claw.

I meant to say the reeling in/out thing, or whatever it is that requires the radial menu.
