This. 411570N3's post wrapped it up nicely, so can we go back to talking about guns, rather than what to call guns?

I don't like much the way the fire damages with lua.
Sometimes it doesn't work right, it damages too little and when there is much fire it gets pretty laggy.

More like the forum's conversation, but it's not like it hasn't been this way for years.

I wouldn't know, due to how new I am here, but I agree. These forums need to have a Pepsi Max. Wake up people!

I can't really pick a "Favorite" weapon with 'em, but looking at the factions in general, I can say a few things and pick out some opinions:

Coalition: Too many clone guns. Very difficult to tell a lot of them apart from one another in any way but "This one has a different name and costs more!".
The Good:
Gatling Gun - Very fulfilling to shoot, fun to use.
Coalition Assault Rifle - Balanced gun, one of the best in the game for the price
Revolver Cannon - Very visceral to shoot. If the rounds could be made to explode, this would be the X-Com Heavy Cannon.

The Bad:
Sniper Rifle - Weaker than the Heavy Sniper Rifle in every way and just a very generic weapon.
Autocannon - I get that you were trying to make it like the X-Com Autocannon, but it fails and lacks the feeling of any real punch. Rounds are all explosion, no impact.
Flamers - Yeah, both of 'em. You have to get way too close to be of much use, IMO. Might as well use a digger for the near insta-gib.

Ronin: Oh boy. The guns here are...unique. Usually in a crappy way. The whole "Rugged, cheap weaponry" thing is a great concept, but it kinda falls short because a lot of these are near-clones of Coalition weapons. Things that could've been great like a Machine Gun that shoots slower but hits harder, just wind up being cheap, inaccurate clones.
The Good:
Long Rifle - A pretty unique weapon. A sniper rifle-like weapon without the obscene range.\
M16 - Basically a clone of the Coalition Assault Rifle. Good for the same reasons.
Bazooka - Blasty, explosive fun

The Bad:
The '00' series - Rename these to something else and diversify them. The YAK is crap anyway, but the M16 variant has heavy MG potential if you'd just make it into something that doesn't sound ridiculous.
Tommygun - Crap. Low accuracy, low rate of fire, generic sprite.
The Pistols - All but the Desert Eagle and Peacemaker might as well just be the same gun...

Dummy: Probably the most "unique" weapons, yet some of the most gimmicky and useless at the same time.
The Good:
Annihilator - Pretty much the signature dummy weapon to me. Huge, hard-hitting, and lacking a "Bullet" like so many other weapons.
Nailer Cannon - Feels like an energy-based Revolver Cannon. This is a good thing.
Nailgun - Although a bullet weapon, doesn't feel like one. Gives a dummy feel.

The Bad:
Sniper Rifle - *Yawn*. Also weak and somewhat innaccurate.
Destroyer Cannon - Can be effective, but tends to not be satisfying to use for me.
Repeater - Yet another slightly modified clone of the Coalition Assault Rifle...

Haven't really looked too much into the other weapons, but that's my general opinion of 'em so far, since you guys asked.

I agree with some of what you say but, X-com? No no no. Some of your ideas are really stupid, the flamers heve allmost 4 times the range of the digger and the repeater is so different from the AR, that I think you haven't even used it, only read the description.

Repeater a "slightly modified clone of the Coalition Assault Rifle"?

No. They are way to different, in almost everything. Being both automatic and powerful won't turn them into the same thing.

I had the repeater and Nailer Cannon confused. Relax.

Man, people are WAY too defensive on here. They asked for opinions on weapons, so I gave it. It's just MY OPINION, not an absolute statement. You guys are acting like I personally insulted you or something...

I know what's the deal with most guns. They are pretty common and aren't very futuristic.

I'd be expecting shotguns, assault rifles, pistols and such, but I'd expect also more laser type of weaponry, energy guns, even electric-bolt like weapons. There are very few exceptions to this, but there should be more futuristic and less obvious weapons, and less variations of them. Like, instead of having 6 pistols and only buying the strongest one because they are all basically the same, there should be a normal pistol, one with explosive ammo, one that shoots laser, etc.

Sounds like you're still confused. The Nailer Cannon sprays torrents of hot nails, and is basically a LMG with an extremely vicious rate of fire. You might be thinking of the Blaster, which is similar to the Coalition assault rifle, but is different enough in my opinion. Rate of fire is comparable, but the projectiles hit slightly harder (especially on soft squishy bits) and the projectiles diffuse over a fairly short range.

I disagree on your judgment of the Coalition Assault rifle; I find it pretty abysmal at medium to long ranges, and the stopping power of individual shots is lacking, which makes the inaccuracy more painful. I'll take an M16 over it every time, the inaccuracy is nicely balanced by good stopping power and a brisk rate of fire.

The Coalition assault rifle would be very interesting if it operated like a FN SCAR or similar battle rifle, firing in very accurate 3-shot bursts.
