Post Disable Blood/Gibs?
Hey,

I'm new to the forums and am really enjoying Cortex Command, it's such a great (and moddable) game! Anyway, one thing that I was wondering is how do you disable the extensive amount of blood/gibs(don't mind them so much)/gore? I've currently tried replacing all the flesh wound sprites and modifying the code so that blood is black, but now it crashes when you do a head sho.

Anyway, if there's an easier way to do this then I'd love to know!

See ya on teh forums,
-Metroid48

EDIT: It only happens on head shots for the green soldiers.

I would really like to see an option for this also. I can't play it with some of kids because it's a little gross at times.

There unfortunately isn't an option which is immediately available, the only way would be to manually do it yourselves.
You can go into every actor and delete AddGib Definitions.

Welcome to the forums spontaneous amounts of newbies.

It's all pre-censored; it's pixelated.

Yep, that'll stop them from exploding violently.

The manual and harder way to do this would be to:
1] - Access Base.rte/Effects/Gibs/Gibs.ini and replace all the SpriteFiles with Base.rte/Null.bmp.
2] - Access Base.rte/Effects/Wounds/Wounds.ini and replace the colours with R: 255 G: 0 B:255 - this'll make blood invisible.
3] - Also you could change the BloodBlast sprites and make them all pink (Same RGB as above)

This hasn't been tested be me - so it will probably fail. Back up your CC Base.rte folder just in case.
Also, [Ctrl + H] and [Ctrl + F] will be your best friend for a while.

You also could remove fleshies and only use robots and dummys, but that would be no fun.

255, 0, 255 is Fuchsia, which is the transparency colour and thus makes the blood completely invisible as opposed to white.

Wow, I didn't know it had a cool name. I just always called it "The transparent pink".

It is both fuchsia and magenta. Both are fully valid names.

I really don't see the point in doing this.
And I don't see if doing all of this editing of Base.rte and removing all flesh gibs is worth the effort.

Most kids wouldn't know this game at all.
And it's not like red pixels or a exploded head will instantly traumatize a kid.

This is not the point of discussion. The discussion is how it would be accomplished, not its merits.

Then by all means go for it.
And share the edited files with the community when whoever makes this is done.
