Considering buying the game (questions for registered users)
I've been playing the demo and I'm enjoying quite a bit for the most part.
The other part I'm not enjoying so much are some of the more aggravating idiosyncrasies regarding control issues.
My questions are not so much regarding content as it is to what extent the dev team has improved the game in terms of raw functionality.
I think currently my biggest complain is how the jetpacks are controlled, especially within confined spaces, I find the mouse-based controls to be ironically unintuitive, considering the mouse is usually the most precise form of control known in gaming.
Specifically in tight vertical corridors in which you simply wish to travel "up", and instead the player ends up getting hung up on the sides or simply refuses to travel in the direction intended.
How are some of the registered users satisfied with the game so far?
I'm trying to get a feel as to whether I'm going to be disappointed.

Well, the game is pretty good, and yes, using the jetpacks isn't too easy at the beggining. But you know, practice makes perfect. Just use short bursts and control your movement.
If that thing is the only problem you dislike about the game well, it's the smallest problem out there.

personally i love the game, i have the ability to make almost anything i can imagine. I can't think of any other game that lets me mod the content this much.
as for the jetpack issue, you get used to the controls, think of it as where your character is looking (head is facing) is where you will fly. in build 25 the jetpacks are weak, but remember this game is still in development.

Re: Considering buying the game (questions for registered users)
Yeah, I have very few complaints about the game outside of a few issues with controls, etc.
The way some of the humanoids seem to have difficulty climbing stairs is an annoyance if only because it makes it VERY difficult to kill an enemy if you're bouncing around while they're relatively stationary and blowing parts off you like nobody's business.
The jetpack is alright with the exception of tight indoor spaces.
And yeah, I'd say that the modding capability of this game is extremely attractive, especially since they've included tools with the registered version.
I don't know.
Can anyone tell me what the deal is with alternate 30+ dollar purchase of the game?

This game will easily outlast most other games in terms of how long you will keep (playing) it, and it's not THAT expensive. There's not much reason not to buy it if you enjoy the demo.

Oh no, I'm well aware of the longevity of games which have an active userbase creating additional content.
I'm very much a fan of such games and is one of the reasons why I'm an avid pc gamer.
The price is really negligible, 18 bucks is a deal for a game that allows so much customization and hours of play.
I'm just wondering about the special sponsor edition of the game or whatever you want to call it on the main site.
The more I fiddle around with the demo the more inclined I am to actually buy it honestly.

Hah, just buy it bro.
It's like the most fair deal you'll ever make.
Seriously, I always come back to CC because it's like you are a god in this universe, you can create almost anything that comes to your mind, and that's a great part of it.
The content you can get out of it is endless, and it gets better and better with time.

Re: Considering buying the game (questions for registered users)
The Support DRL edition comes with no additional content, per se. The original plan was to offer some kind of early access to new builds, or more direct feedback with the production of the game, but that's not really likely to happen at this point. Effectively, buy the support datarealms edition if you want to support datarealms; you will not miss out on anything related to the game in any way whatsoever.

Re: Considering buying the game (questions for registered users)
I'm pretty sure I'm going to, I know some other people who might enjoy it as well, and christmas isn't far away.
Every year I buy a number of people some kind of oddity I find off the internet that they might enjoy. Last christmas I bought a lot of licenses for minecraft for people I liked...
Too bad Notch had to go and bork the game up so much, I really liked it until they messed with the chunk loading.

The Jetpack follows your eyes to some extent, so if you're trying to climb straight up you should look straight up, and if you're trying to cover distance horizontally looking forward or down seems to help. Unfortunately, this doesn't help if you're trying to fly and shoot things at the same time. Also, I've heard that jetpacks are much easier to control with a gamepad, but I haven't messed around to see if that's really true.
