   |   Re: Lighting, thermal and nightvisionThe problem with glows is that they lag the game more and more the larger the glow sprite is. Even a lot of smaller glows that cover the same area don't lag as much as big glows. I don't know if it's an exponential relation, but it sure seems that way.

   |   Re: Lighting, thermal and nightvisionDuh is right.
 Trust me, I would know.

 *EDIT*
But it can get to a point where lots of small glows FAR out-rape a few big glows.

   |   Re: Lighting, thermal and nightvisionScenario:Let's say that I have a bomb that explodes into 100 MOPixels, 50 which have YellowSmall.bmp and 50 that have YellowBig.bmp. Then, compare that with my Nova Bomb, which only has a few glows (although a few take up the whole screen). The lag from the 100 pixel bomb would be higher than from my bomb with few but extremely massive glows.

   |   Re: Lighting, thermal and nightvisionThe Gish has a thing like this, with light sources and shadows. Very nice.

   |   Re: Lighting, thermal and nightvisionmaby if you made like 18 different angle glows you could make a basic spotlight.
