Post Multiplayer questi....OH GOD, PLEASE DON'T DELETE THE THREAD
:???: I know, I know. I read that topic where everyone spams size 45 caps about how there is never going to be online play. Firstly, they're wrong. Even if Data never puts it in, and CC eventually dies out, some retro game freak somewhere in the year 2040 will dig it out of the internet's trash can, recode the whole thing in half an hour, set up a website, and then people will start asking all over again. You can't stop progress, matey.

Now, to business. I'm a noob to the CC forums and would just like a few questions answered:
1. Why not? Come onnnnnn. Facing your friends on splitscreen is all very well, and you can just endure the NPCs if you set them to 'Death' and watch as they blast THROUGH the simple obstacles, rather than getting stuck on them. But all the same, you have to admit that blowing up a human-controlled dummy gives more satisfaction than blowing up a computer controlled dummy. Also, humans have no boundaries. Never on skirmish has the computer taken control of his landing rocket and smashed it into the side of my base, killing my troops. No computer has ever tried to kill me with their jetpack, and no computer player has ever, EVER shot at a grenade deliberately while its in the enemy's hands. Besides, it's more social... right?

2. Please, if not multiplayer, how about thinking about LAN? Then anyone who DOES want multiplayer (i.e. everyone) can set up a Hamachi server. Everyone wins.

laglaglaglaglag

LAN is feasible though, but not with Hamachi.

What you don't seem to understand is that it is NOT FEASIBLE.

You CANNOT have 2 computers over any sort of distance calculating 2 physics heavy games of CC in perfect sync.

That's pretty much it. I'd suggest a search next time, because you'll get the exact same answers.

As for Lan, check this topic: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11599
Don't bump it for no reason.

i still dont think you'd need to send all the info, and that it would be feasable... i might dig up the irc scene and add some action commands to it, and work from there.
its not like crysis sends the entire physics sim when you're playing online. or just about any other game ever made multiplayer. but as everyone else has said, you can have LAN play with windows built in tools.

I still think multiplayer is possible. I hope someone with enough Lua experience will just show up with multiplayer for CC and blow it up in the faces of those goddamn small pieces of wood.

Just you wait.

Yeah Numgun, can I just make a public request of you to set an example and not post like this? You are a developer after all.

Oh hey, what's Data himself said about putting it in for the final release? Most likely NO.

Because it's pretty hard with the hardware we have at the moment I guess. I'm sure I speak foralmost everyone when I say I'd quite like to have a finished polished campaign mode and some nicely sprited and balanced weapons/actors with some cool new things and maps, all ready in one year, than waiting 2 years for multiplayer code to be written.

It's been shown that you can play against other fleshbags through remote assistance I think? I return with evidence!

So there, you do have a hacky way of playing CC on a PC. Now I'm going to lock this, as everything you've asked has been answered. PM flame me if, yet again, I've done my job wrong and you want to complain.
