I have actually heard similar and I'm in ohio, granted I think it was in a movie, but anyway.... I think it has something to do with the size of them, cause they do exist. they are about the size of a large pig. I know I wouldn't want to crash a car into a grey pig, let alone a concrete pig.

it probably has something to do with isscrap = 0 taking effect when outside of the background. the same happens with ladders and metal platforms.
