Re: Gold Value.
it was a joke guys. a joke. i even used pixels as a measurement.
also, about jumppaths, god i wished they worked.. it would make all that ♥♥♥♥ about with jetpacks to make them jump unnecessary, and disallow jumping when legs were missing. i do hope they come back. and yes, the code is still there.

Just making sure you are aware of this.
You guys are being ridiculous. It is a game mechanic. It requires no further examination than this. Perhaps (and I mean this in the most kind way possible) you should direct your creative energies at something more fruitful, meaningful, and substansive--as opposed to arguing over why Data chose "gold" as a resource.
That's like asking Westwood why they chose Tiberium as their resource, or why Frank Herbert invented "Spice." It's just a mechanic. It is not any more important than that.
/discussion I personally am quite aware that this discussion is more or less worthless, but I find it enjoyable, regardless. Over-discussing particular trivial aspects of the game might not be useful or anything, but there's no solid reason we need to avoid it. It's not really an aggressive or offensive argument, it's causing no harm. This is discussion of CC, discussion is the purpose of forums, and this is a forum about CC, in the "general" section. It's not entirely a joke, but take it with a grain of salt. Unless you already have too much in your diet already. I certainly do. On the digressive (but more useful and practical, so more thoroughly respectable) subject of limbpath jumping, I think it could currently be implemented via regular modding in current CC, but at the cost of walking, it would have to be entirely replacing it as a form of locomotion. And that very well may be the novelty of the jumper. His idle limb path may even be jumping in place. His 'jetpack' could be an offensive emission, or maybe a super jump. ...I might just try to make that.

Re: Gold Value.
Its not that its harmful or anything...
It's just--really lame. Like I said, you might want to consider focusing these apparent random creative outbursts on something more ... tangible?
Having an e-argument on the internets about why some other dood on the internets made his game a certain way is just really really sad. There's really no other way for me to say it, bro

Re: Gold Value.
But it's unavoidable that discussion about an indie game is going to be relatively petty. There are absurd amounts of information made by the fanbase of this game. All for what? A pleasurable way to waste your free time, entertainment. People find different things enjoyable. If I spent that time playing a game or something, would it really be any more productive? Would it be less of a waste? Not by much, it would just be a more mainstream and common way to enjoyably waste time. If you think something is lame, I can't correct you, but you can't entirely logically prove that something lame is something always preferably avoided. ProjektODIN wrote: Like I said, you might want to consider focusing these apparent random creative outbursts on something more ... tangible They have terrible accuracy. Or I have terrible aim. One of the two, if not both. If it cheers you up, (or something) the discussion is running dry and probably won't make it much further. And I probably would be doing something else, if I had the opportunity to do that particular thing, even if that's a waste too. I was waiting for a good L4D server a lot of the time I wrote this crap.

Re: Gold Value.
i was thinking of using a crouch path rather than a walkpath. i might go try that.

Re: Gold Value.
It will be a jumper creation contest of valor, may the best man win. (at this point I'm specifically trying to be lame to be thoroughly annoying) (And I'm running over more kangaroos. I've adapted the train to use their bodies for fuel, propelling it in it's lengthwise rolling) (and now I'm thinking about seriously considering how a lengthwise rolling kangaroo genocide/fueled machine would work, something like an agricultural combine entirely contained within the front thresher thing) (Thor is entirely right, I am being pretty lame. I should be doing homework, or at least making that jumper.)
But. I. Digress.

Re: Gold Value.
Gold is used to form material shields for interstellar craft; protection against monatomic particles in the so-called vaccuum of space. Vast magnetic hydrogen scoops provide power to Bussard ramjets, which propel craft to 99% c, thus requiring massive collision protection.
Alternately, gold atoms represent a unique quantum state ideal for consumption in the faster than light communication process in use by all civilized races.

Gold is the primary element in the creation of the brain-radio transmitter interface. It's high conductivity and ideal quantum state makes it perfect for transmitting information. And you know there is a lot of information being transmitted between brains and bodies, imagine trying to do that from 300 yards away!

Re: Gold Value.
Hmmm... I did have a large wall of text talking about FTL, gold atomic structure, possible models of interstellar economies and future technologies, but one look at it after I was finished typing and I realized that no one would bother reading it @ProjektODIN: Yes, this conversation or this forum or even this game may be completely pointless, but they are a way of passing the ten hours of work (or school) when the boss isn't looking Solace wrote: MinDepth = 25 MaxDepth = 350
Although that could be changed. This brings up an interesting question... In all my maps I've changed this value so the debris scatters through the entire terrain, but in so many maps made by others, the depth is the default. Is there any reason to have only 350 depth? Lag? Fast loading times?

GopherLemming wrote: Is there any reason to have only 350 depth? Lag? Fast loading times? I think it is mostly laziness. It used to be somewhat related to lag, back when we had pixel glows, but not anymore, and it has nothing to do with loading times. Most maps are about as deep as grasslands anyway, so there's not much reason to change it.
