METAL MAYHEM

Image

History Books wrote:
Long ago, this planet was infested by Giant Bipedal Crabs, who built many towers out of metals and concrete. They shaped the buildings using soil and Clay. When they were finished, the "Garcrabs" transmuted the soil into iron and concrete. Many years has passed since the civilization lived, their remains look rusted and crumbling. However, upon further inspection, the iron and concrete were dense heavy materials which were impervious to most attacks. Just waiting for a non-native faction to occupy this fortress.

Yeah, upon further inspection, you will notice the lack of bunker modules, that is because the map is entirely composed of terrain only, the pieces are just terrain shaped. The textures aren't the best but they work. Now the aesthetics leave something to be desired, however, the amount of destruction, chaos and utter fun you can have here is well worth the time. I just thought I'd do something more original, instead of the classic way. [Make randomish terrain, sprite and implement bunkers, place bunkers, etc..]
Feel free to edit the map for your liking; the map .rte itself comes with pre-made pieces for you to use. [Named Mayhem Pieces]

Have fun, and time to create some mayhem!

Remember to show off any maps you have made using this .rte! I want to see what you can come up with.

The map has no definition or depth or detail at all. It's only shapes fill-pasted with some metal textures.

I highly recommend redoing this.

Why does this remind me of Liero?

Probably cause of the textures.. I mean, Liero maps were pretty much drawn with MSPaint.

Guess it does have some value to the people like me who have played that antiquated game.

Oh man, Liero...
I have not seen that game in more than four years.

This map is... interesting. Visually it's a little repulsive just because the textures are so flat and stitched, but it's also nice to have a place that won't fall apart from over-playing.

I think you mean you want bunkers with depth and stuff.
This map is made of terrain only so it's really hard to make it have depth.

Just made a test run against the AI..

Quickly got my ass handed to me by ninja lasers, coilguns, and flamers.

However, I got nothing bad to say on the map's layout..

I just don't know why that pool is there.

To me, it doesn't seem to really do anything.

The pool was just a random addon.

You should know better than to release something so unpolished, dragonxp.

Yay! A horrible looking map! ... No offense of course.
This will be perfect for me and my friends playing multiplayer. :?

Liero has gotten a new version not so long ago.
It's now called ''openLieroX''

openLX was preceded by years of closed-source normal LX iirc, before jason or whatever his name is got sick of one-manning it.

The textures of this map kind of offend my eyes, as they aren't in the same style as the rest of CC and therefore clash like anything...

This is pretty good! I like the indestructability since usually the terrain will wear itself out in a couple of hours of play. But after the pool is used up, all the idiot AI's get stuck in there. So far the only thing that can actually chew through the material is guns and shields when dead bodies push against them and the Judgement from DSTech.

Are you going to make more scenes with these materials?

Well, it depends if anyone wants them.

[I'll remove the pool for those who didn't already]

Edit:
These textures good, or were the old ones better?

Look at the vanilla game textures and see how they convey what material they are (dirt is in small chunks and has gravel through it, grass is all in vertical bands etc), and then mimic that in yours. currently it looks like you got a photo, masked the edges and indexed the whole thing, which is not how you should make textures for CC.
