I present to you:

Rock Grappler
Image

In this "mission," you are a Ronin soldier that has to get to a locked teleporter at another side of a large canyon/ravine. Sounds easy, right? BUT WAIT! Your jetpack is out of fuel! No worries, you have a grappling gun, and lucky for you there are floating boulders between both sides. Oh yeah, and you need to collect a key to unlock that teleporter. Good luck.

Grappling Gun Controls:
Hold Fire to launch the claw untill it hits something. Releasing Fire before the claw hits something will bring the claw back.
Release Fire and press Fire again to bring back claw and relaunch.
Keyboard or Gamepads - Hold Crouch and Up/Down to climb up/down the rope.
Mouse + keyboard - Hold Crouch and Scroll Up/Down to climb up/down the rope.
You could also switch to another tool or weapon and use it while hanging on the rope.

Features:
-A Grappling Gun.
-Boulders are randomly placed each time you play.
-Infinite play time (untill you die).
-A counter that tells you what round your on.
-Difficulty increases as you progress.
-Items that give you extra life and more fuel.

Change Log:
4-27-10
-Added items: Life, Fuel, and Key
-Multiplayer setting in begining of mission

4-21-10
-Actor in mission has a helmet and a higher GibImpulseLimit.
-Map is slightly bigger so you don't swing passed the edge and die as often as before.

4-20-10
-Initial Release.

Credits:
TheLastBanana - A function that loads another mission
CaveCricket48 - Scripting, coding, the Grappling Gun

Enjoy, and post the highest round you get to.

I have downloaded this and so far it is pretty awesome but the mission seems hard for me...

I keep exploding on rocks. >.>

*EDIT*
OK, you REALLY should increase his GibImpulseLimit. And not make him die if he swings off the left or right side of the map.

I agree. A custom actor with an abnormally high GibImpulseLimit would be nice, because Dimitri is too fleshy to be a man about rock swinging. Not too abnormally high to be Chuck Norris tough, but not too soft to be a sack of blood and meat. Maybe a rock climber sprite as well?

And, I noticed that when retracting the winch (making the rope shorter), it tends to jerk upwards when using a mouse wheel. It killed Dimitri once.

Got to round 3. I see what you mean by 'increasing difficulty'.

Got good at getting myself to swing, but i can't multitask so I can't get past round 3. Round 3 hard.

I have only 2 gripes with this:
1. I always fly off the map trying to get into the bunker module with the teleporter.
2. Dimitri is pathetically weak at impacts, Increase ImpulseDamageThreshold or GibWoundLimit pls.

Funny:
Some of these random generators churn out impossible courses.
[Mind you, there were rocks under me, but they would've caused Dimitri to explode.]

ProTip: Dimitri survives longer against round 3 with his helmet on!

I believe that the rocks are just way more dense than normal, which is why Mr D here explodes when hitting them at any significant speed.

This is an awesome and challenging level, the main things I would love to see changed are:
Making the hook user swing when pressing a walking movement key.
Putting rope climbing on up/down for mouse users -- or something.

Just hold crouch and left/right.

Hold crouch and scroll up or down. It's sensitive though, so don't scroll too quickly.

Dimitri is more resilient now, has a helmet, and there's more space behind the teleporter.

Actually, I spoke too soon. For a normal mouse user the rope movement should work great.
On a trackpad CC tends to think in large jumps, so it's very difficult to not send yourself flying.
Probably because the trackpad is sending lots of scroll motions, each of them from a small (1mm) motion of the fingers.
It's not going to be an issue for anyone but me, probably.

Round 7 :)
I prefer to throw away the gun and shoot pesky coalitions out of the sky with hook. They dodge and fall and die.

I understand that in order to ascend up or descend down the rope, you have to hold crouch + scroll up or down.

Thing is, I tried it with my lappy's tablet, and found myself unable to do it.

I dunno what to say.

And you say that the controls for this are fairly sensitive?
