Rewriting an unwritten rule.
I've noticed mods are being released less, and I think I know why, the unwritten rule- do not post if it has been done, is useless.
If the mod is comparable, in both looks and coding to the others, release it.
That should be the only rule.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
You people (as in the community, not 3 solid) are mean to other people (new people).
Don't be.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
That was fast.
..
Ok, maybe there should be more than just that one rule.
And I am mean to newbs occasionally, but only if I'm in a bad mood or if they asked for it.

Translation for Alenth. (why didn't you understand?)
If your mod is good, better or almost as good as the mods already released, no matter whether or not it has been done, release it.
The unwritten rule of "Don't post if it's been done" just means we get less mods.

I prefer Quality over Quantity.
Few excellent mods are better than a swamp of abortion mods.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
I know, but right now we're getting neither, just small... pulses, (for lack of a better word) of both.
I'm not saying- Release your mod no matter how crap it is.
I'm saying- If it's good, release it, no matter how many time's it's been done.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
I don't see anyone holding back clone mods as it is, so I'm not sure why you think that this unwritten rule is being followed, nor why you care how active the mods forum is if you believe that the only activity that we can gain is in the way of clone mods. But whatever.
"If the mod is comparable, in both looks and coding to the others, release it."
I interpreted this as : Release a mod as long as it's almost the same as something that's already out.
And if I wanted to take it a bit further, that rule could be twisted to outlaw new and innovative mods! How FUN!

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
I meant comparable in quality. (Sometimes I hate the english language.)
Then how do you explain what happened to the mod forum? These days it's either something new, which is good, something from the intro, a conversion, or a "fan-mod" (stop stealing ideas from shows/movies/other games/books/whatever.)
It's very rare we get the old- Actor + gun + story pack.

I agree with 3 solid. mods seem rare. you'd expect tons of awsome crabs and all, but we're not getting very many mods. I'm not sure if the reason he's saying is true. I think it's just that people aren't as active or are scared of flaming. this is why I hate flamers. they make life hell for modders and mod downloaders.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
The "actorgunstorypack" thing was pretty much the same as getting stuff from the intro, and never really fell into your little category of "comparability" since most of the ones anyone ever cared about were rather different in some way.
I no longer remember what modders did that, but as far as I know they were all just trying to act like capnbubs and his CRobos.
All I lament is that noone seems to be doing mods that fit nicely into the game. Not that there have ever been many of those mods, but whatever.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
How is actorgunstory getting it from the intro?
By getting it from the intro, mean like the "Whitebot" or the liberator.. The kind of things Data might include later anyway.
While I agree that some actorgunstory's had one or 2 different features, but normally it was just something like a more powerful weapon, or better armor, something small, and simple.
I'm going to stop using the term actorgunstory because it just looks messy.

Re: Rewriting an unwritten rule.
The new members are afraid to post their mods because they're afraid of getting flamed. I think we could be a little more understanding when it comes to new members, after all, they can't get better if we don't let them.

D: I agree, but don't worry. I bet those sub-forums in the corporations are allowing people to come up with some big packs. I bet we'll soon get a lot of packs.... we just have to wait.
