As far as I can tell, it's just a regular Ronin with a cool hat, a neat description, a professional title, and a hefty price tag. Other than normal actor variables like mass and gibability, what's the deal? I'm considering making a sniper actor for my mod, but only if there's more to it than looks, value, and a job description. Anyone have any insights? |

clunatic wrote: the only difference between snipers and other actors is in the ai lua. Specifically, snipers (and brains) calculate whether or not it's possible to have line of sight to nearby enemy actors, whereas normal actors just check in front of them to see if they spot an enemy. In short, they are better at spotting enemies. |

One of the first non-stickied thread of Game Discussion. There's a somewhat long discussion about it. |

Ah. What I'm gathering is that it's the grouping of the actor that makes all of the difference. I overlooked the fact that it was in the special group "Snipers" as just being an identifier that it was special, not that it actually made them special. I was expecting something like a special "SniperAI.lua" to give it away, but now that I think about it, it makes a ton more sense this way. Thanks for the helpful hints! I guess this is resolved! I'll make my Sniper right away. Thanks again! |
