I decided to try out modding for the first time, I followed a tutorial and made a mod doing that. But now I'm trying to make one with my own weapons, and when I tried to first test it it's giving me an error saying it cant load the icon. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've spent an hour looking over the forums and trying to figure it out myself. Any help is appreciated.

Your icon is both too big and not in palette. Make your icon much much smaller, maybe 35 x 35 pixels big. You can read up about putting images in palette here. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12442 |

I made a new icon at 35x35 and in pallete, but it's still not loading. |

You're sure it's in palette? If you're using Windows 7 paint to put it in palette then that won't work, only Windows paint from XP (I think Vista too, not sure) and previous will work. |

I'm using GIMP to put it in pallete. |

Remake the icon on a new file. The one you're using might be corrupted. |

Are you using GIMP 2.8, by any chance? I've found it has an issue* in regards to saving indexed .bmp files; I had to swap back to my old install of 2.6 for a couple of things. *Which is to say, it saves them as non-indexed, or always reads them as RGB, or both. Either way, CC can't read them. |

Do you know anything else I can use or where to get 2.6? edit: I used to MS paint to put it in pallete, it's loading now but the icon has a bunch of lines through it, and the gun's invisible area isnt invisible, even though I used pallete to make them again. |

That means your sprites still aren't in palette. What MS Paint are you using? If it's Windows 7's MS Paint that won't work, you have to use previous versions or get someone else to convert them for you. |
