How should I make my sprites more "Realistic"?
So this is my first gun mod ever (which means it took me hours to get everything to work right), but after reading dozens of guides, wikis and tutorials, I'm nearly finished with the first fully functional weapon that I can actually call my own work.
Only problem is that I'm still not very good with spriting and no matter what I do, I just can't help feel that my gun/cannon looks a bit off.

Revised Version (current version)
In-Game look
Comparison to other weapons
It's based off of the mass driver in Descent 3 but with a few tweaks to make it look more like a shoulder held weapon.
I've tried to make it blend in by using colors from the Ronin arsenal, but it still feels flat and toy like when compared to the other vanilla weapons.
So do any of the experienced modders here know how to make something look more "realistic"?
p.s. Would it be considered improper to only release a single weapon as a mod or should I make a few more before releasing my noobish creations?
p.p.s I currently have 4 animation frames depicting the barrel of the gun retracting whenever the weapon is fired, but the game plays it too fast for it to be noticed. Is there any way to slow down the animation play speed?
Thanks
