Post subject: | Sprite help for warhammer 40,000 mod |
Recently Gothic-ork posted a few sprites he and ivan worked on ages ago but maybe stopped working on. one is the imperial guard sentinel. The sentinel to those who is unaware of warhammer is basicly a light recon walker (much like the AT-ST in star wars which i assume a larger group of the people here is aware of) Now the thing this sprite lacks is the legs. Now finding a references picture for it is hard since most of them are 1: different edition models or 2: different factions of the imperial guard so i'll post a few in different spoiler tags. My question is how should i go about to do the legs? my first thought is to have half of it (if you look in the last picture you see the first joint is quite short and go straight down almost and go straight across to the 2nd joint then into a on a 45 Degree to the foot.) static and part of the body and the rest as the leg. But the problem is on how to make it work in CC, as i seen many of the mech in the game are not really good in acting like Mech (maybe the UNI-Tec AEGIS are but they are known at least for me as bending forth and back once shot with a high caliber weapon) But yea, what would be the best way to go with this? how far should i make the leg connected to the body itself or not? (also if ork isn't alright with me using his body i'll end up making a new one from scratch so my question will still stand) Here is orks current body for the Sentinel (as a note i will also edit the Sentinel body to mix in with the rest of my sprites) (Do note THIS SPRITE ISN'T MINE, I AM ONLY USING IT IF ORK ALLOWS ME TO.) (also since i will most likely ask a few more spriting questions at a later date i'll keep all of my sprite questions inside this topic to get rid of the topic spam. I however doubt i will be asking for help for almost every sprite mainly only the Mechs since warhammer mech tend to be awkward to make.) (also i apologise if there a thread for this kind of questions should be but i did a fast search manually through the first couple of pages and didn't see any. ) |

As jack the ripper said, let's go part by part. Spriting the pieces of leg which doesn't articulate and make it fit as you desires: I assume you can handle the shading and detailing

Thanks, and No shading and detailing won't be a problem and a slight off topic note, Love your work (mainly the Germans weaponry, honestly i still believe Heckler and Koch are the best gun makers in the world) i'll leave this topic up in case i come into anymore problems and require assistance from the community. |

I believe there was an unfinished Mechwarrior mod project somewhere in Mod Making that has a good leg sprite and code. Maybe test it out if it looks like a Sentinel's leg? Then ask the creator about sharing the leg or something? |

Attachment: Original creator was banned (MetalMeltadown) but the code and script developer was Duh, so if use, you shall give credit to her, she was very kind back then... |
