Post Feedback needed, gatling shotgun
I call this gun, The Decimator Shotgun. Its a fully automatic Gatling/shotgun.
This is a fully working mod, but still a work in progress.

I would like to know good or bad what you think, or would change about it.
please keep in mind i plan to add custom sprites, and i already know its overpowered.

thank you for your input. :D

*update 8-31-11*

Well that's embarrassing, thank you I changed it. I also just noticed I put two (T)'s in Gatling.

The range limitation might look and work better if you gave the pellets more air resistance and more lifetime.
Right now, you have a tiny bit of air resistance, but it doesn't do much. As range increases, effectiveness gradually lowers to about 95% , but then sharply drops down to zero in just a couple meters. At a range of two meters the enemy gets slaughtered, at 28 meters they get slaughtered, but at 32 meters they're as safe as houses.
Try an airresistance of 0.04 and lifetime of 750, and you'll get a more gradual range limitation effect, with around the same maximum effective range.
If it looks like it's falling too much, you could adjust the GlobalAccScalar so it doesn't. Magic low-gravity projectiles may be unrealistic, but when you consider that it counteracts the unrealistically low muzzle velocities in CC, I'd say it's more realistic, in the trajectory's end-effect. This short of a maximum range is unrealistic too, but that's perfectly fine when done for gameplay purposes.

Another thing with AEmitter shotguns, you could try adding the lifetime variance variable for emissions, so that the individual pellets from a shot disappear at different times, making the disappearance also a bit more gradual and natural looking.
[LifeVariance, it goes with the other variables for emissions, for example the speed and spread. 0 is no variance, 1 is from double to nothing]

And of course adding more customized details would be an improvement. New sprite, new gibs, new muzzle flash, etc. Maybe you should also take "the" out of the gun's name, it's a little pretentious. That might be suitable if it were a special uber weapon from a pack of weapons, but alone as it's own mod, that just doesn't seem right, in my opinion.

Thanks, thats exactly the kind of feed back i needed. I will try all that out after work.

Its in its own mod folder so it can be easily tested
I will drop the THE in its name, your right its not needed

**edit ok tried all that out**

i made 4 different shots that range from 525-750 lifetime. honestly i don't notice them disappearing

also the air-Resistance seems to make the shots go from being deadly, deadly, deadly, to not deadly at all (bounce off actors)
The shots seem to look like this ----------------------._ and by that i mean they stay straight then at the end rapidly curve down, rather than a gradual arch.

So it seems i have lots more tweaking to do, but your suggestions have been vary helpful.
-thank you

Not bad at all. Maybe drop the fire rate just a bit, and of course give it it's own sprite.

Unrelated, I adore the actor in your avatar. Links to a mod?

Update 8-31-11
thank you everyone who gave feed back.

This new version is with your suggestions added, I dropped the lifetime but the rounds still have a limited range.
this copy contains the new version and the old so they can be easily compared.

Features
-light weight
-15 rounds
-has a short windup, and a short reload
-the shots aren't very sharp (for balance) they become less effective with distance.
-this gun is strictly a short to medium range gun.

I still have not made any new sprites for this. (been looking for a good paint program, damn you windows 7  )

I think the AirResistance/LifeVariation is making the rounds disappear before they start to arch. I would like they to last just slightly longer, I would also like to the shells to arch more but GlobalAccScalar doesn't seem to do crap to a AEmitter.

while I'm thinking about the shells i might add back the stop time for the smoke particles.
updated the OP with the new version, also found here

So you're applying globalaccscalar to the emitter of the shot pellets?
If so, try applying it to the pellets themselves instead.

You could look into Paint.Net or GIMP, they're both freeware. I just use a copy of the version of mspaint from Windows XP... on my other computer with Windows XP, because copying it over to my main Win7 computer might be piracy, so I didn't do that. Yeah.
