I am just curious, can CC access an encrypted file, like a password protected .rar, inside a rte?

No. Not unless you write a script accessing that file, thus leaving your password in plain sight. You might be able to trick the game into running other .exes and piping in the output but it's a bit wanky, no? You're trying to hide work made as a mod?

kinda, adding a secret part to teh mod that would require someone to activate something in the index, which would call something inside an encrypted .rar

So, they activate it in the same way they would if it were as "secret" as the extra vanilla content, but it does some elaborate thing to get to the same end result? Just comment out the file linking the "secret" bit. If you want to make it more "challenging" to get, reference the dependencies of the secret bit from various unrelated files (eg a few gun definitions include the gibs and limbs, some other actor includes the body, and a scene adds it to the group and applies the script to a copy, or whatever)

ok, that should work.
The thing is that people cant know what is inside the thing, for it is incredibly secret. the mod itself wont be secret the just teh secret part.

...How?

Post subject:  Re: Encryption

Ok it is like this:
Code:
MainFolder.rte
Normal stuff-Secret.rar

The things in Secret.rar can not be seen, or noticed, or even THOUGHT about by the users of the mod.
Yet, it must be called when a user deletes a certain comment in a certain index. When the said comment is deleted in such a manner that it makes the commented section, uncommented, then the data inside the Secret.rar will be used ingame.

Makes sense?

Uh, remember Nummy's Ypsilon cannon? He disguised the .ini as an audio file, so you had to rename it to run the mod.

Sure, anyone can just rename it and then take a peek at the code, but it'd be harder to spot.

Not entirely sure if this carries over through when compressed though

Thanks for that, Coops.
But actually, what we and Darkdoom have in mind is, in fact, not a PR0N F01D3R, just something that has, or contains...
Legendary evil.
More evil than anything ever seen before, neither by men nor monkeys, something darker than the flames of Mordor itself. It cannot be seen, or the world will be doomed. For ancient worlds have dealt with it, and fell even before the slightest glimmer of false hope could appear.

It is most certainly not.
Also, Coops Morgan, I think I'll take a look at the "Advanced" options.

I have major doubts that you and darkdoom could even do such a thing.

Whenever you release the mod, I'm looking into it just because im now intrigued on what you guys claim would be legendary evil or whatnot.
