It's still hardcoded, so nowhere. Unless you have the source that is.

Is there anyway to write A.I. code for the game at all then?

Well, you can try making your own, hacky, AI through Lua by setting the controller mode of an actor to do nothing then manually controlling it though the same Lua. Other than that, not really.

To be honest, I'm not sure how you would accomplish such a thing, but I believe people have done this in the past.

EDIT: Found the two examples I know of, the RETARDS and Independent

As well as the Safer Craft mod. Basically speaking, you have to check the situation manually and then force the actor to do things manually. The hardcoded AI will mess with your actions a bit, too, and lag will be a problem for more complex situation analysis.

If he just released or at least the A.I. source i believe the community could do some pretty damn amazing things with it.

He has promised Lua-based AI already; have patience.

I didn't create my own AI, I just built the actors to get the best out of the AI that's already there. They're mostly airborn, don't collide with each other, and their size significantly reduces the chances of being hit by friendly fire because they'll usually be shot at through where legs or head would be. They also have a longer view distance, so all of this added together makes them appear 'smarter'.

If you can't improve the AI, just make the actors it uses more suitable for it.
