Post subject:  WIP Base, Feedback needed 9-28-10

The picture is old, the base looks better now.

*UPDATE*
Okay I'm releasing a very rough draft (sprites are not final and some of the BG sprites are copies of the FG)
I wanted to fix the dependencies before sharing this but I ran into some issues with my custom door so there are references to base files, and dummy files.

I will be making changes based on your feedback
some of things I would like to know are....
-should it be stronger, weaker
-possible improvements
-likes, dislikes (constructive dislikes please, "it sux" doesn't help me improve it)
-what should the base cost
-how well does it hold up to vanilla content/ mod content

When I make a new version I will post it up here on the first page.
-added a download for my x-9 rifle and spider-bot grenades (x-9.rte) feedback is welcome on them as well.

**OLD**
I'm working on a base right now and I'm curious what people are looking for in one?
do you want it to be big, small, full of bells and whistles, invincible? how much do you want it to cost?

What I have working right now is a small 3 level base that supports 3-6 actors
it has...
-2 doors
-comes with a brain
-2 sniper posts
-2 storage crates (will come with actors inside soon)
-a reinforced roof for landing crafts
-some stronger walls

things I may add...
-traps (already have a disign for a one time use hallway trap)
-turrets
-small gold pile
-actor lift
-I'm also thinking of adding my x-9 rifle and spider bot grenades, maybe not in the base but at least in the mod.

I like the bacta tank idea, I think I'll look into how to make one... maybe a storage crate that takes a injured player and replaces them with a new one. I think that might be the only way to get limbs back.

I have two dependencies to fix and a few areas of my background image before I can share the beta version with all of you.

I'm sure you will consider interesting CaveCricket's Nanobot Assembler like template.

I tried putting a lift in, and the emenies get stuck in it, and just hover at its peak.

I have a landing pad and I'm considering adding a docking script to it.

I do plan to make the doors stronger.

What would the locking pin be used for???
And I'm not sure I understand what the blow outs are for either.

I like the locking pin idea. I think he means that when the door reaches its closed point, it slides into a crevice, so that when damaged, it could permanently lock itself. Is that right?

When you put it that way it sounds like a cool idea.
Maybe make it Gib as a big chunk that settles into a tough mat.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. He might not have had the same intentions, though, I was just guessing.

Yeah thats about what i was trying to say, a blast door that swings down for dropships to land on and swings up and the pin locks it in to place.

And a Decompressed area is an air with no air inside and if you destory the door it would suck in all air and whatever is around in baseily making a vacume for a few seconds.

To keep debris from falling where you don't want it to?

*bump*

Okay I added a download and a in game image (image is after some major carnage happened)

Please keep the bunker ideas within the realm of possible to make with ini code. My knowledge of lua is vary limited, as in I mostly just do minor edits to existing codes.

Oooh and as I mentioned earlier here's my x-9 rifle and spider bot grenades.
They are a work in progress but I thought you guys might like trying them out. Major props to CaveCricket48 for his script help on it. (press [F]) to detonate rounds, I chose that key do to it being right next to WASD for quick use.

Spiderbot grenades are overpowered at the moment sorry. (purchasable from bombs menu)

It does look remarkably like a house, well done on that. But would you keep you brain in the attic? Only if it was the safest place in th house, as it appears to be in this case.

I cannot see any improvements you could make to this other than th ones you have mentioned, and i'm not going to hassle you about those. I think once it is finished, this would make a great zombie survival place on skirmish.

Good job.

Great Idea! I may have to make a mission for that, though I need to either submerge the base a bit or give the zombies jet-packs so they can reach the top. Its just not fun unless I can lose.
