Post subject:  A question about weapons

I would like to make a weapon attached to the head of an actor that doesn't collide with the actor. I also would like to make the actor not collide with the rounds from the weapon, may I get some help on this?

Depends if this actor is an ACrab, if so, make the gun and head all part of the turret and make the Gun unable to hit MoS. Set the muzzle away from the head and all should be OK.

\/ \/ Yes include that as well.

FireIgnoresThis = 1 on gun in .ini? (it's standard though)

Nah, it's an AHuman.

That makes it more tricky, then. I guess you would have to make it an attachable coming off the face, then set up Lua controls in order to fire it, and also to prevent [if you wanted to] picking up a second weapon and firing them both. I don't know if an HDFirearm can be an Attachable though. I also don't know if you can put attachables on the face.

Yeah since the head itself is somewhat an attachable itself. Dang, that makes life loads harder, I have no idea how to use lua. Plus now for whatever reason, its also spitting a Couldn't Match property error for MOPixels.

For the time being, I recommend turning it into an ACrab. I did something very similar and it was easy. The Dreadnought is a perfect example, if you turn some of the armour sprites into body and head sprites and edit the offsets and wounds, you can get a good look without using Lua. Not quite the same I know, but you can still get a face shooting four legged creature of doom at the end of it.

Dagnabbit, I already have almost everything laid out already. You think I could make an invisible unbuyable weapon that has the muzzle offset in front of the head?

Hmm... sounds buggy to me. Also, your hands would constantly be touching your face. That just looks wierd.

Yeah, but the hands are invisible. But you're right, I can see some problems with that idea now that i think about it. Maybe I should Upload the sprites so you can have a better idea of whats going on.

It's certainly doable to have LASER EYE BEAMS with Lua, and to make them fire when a button is pressed, etc.

How would I do such a thing?

That guy would look mighty fine as an ACrab, will test it out and upload it here tomorrow.

I don't think it would work either, however, I'm willing to be proven wrong
