The Nexus - Planning phase
So, I'm currently going to start working on a mod that I am calling...Well, the Nexus.
It's not a faction mod and more of a bunker module mod. It will consist of "Crystals of Power". Which will have "supposed" magical properties (Which is actually Nexus Technology...) and be used for base defense. These crystals will be hoisted up on a platform with what looks like a hover engine and pylons to that keep the crystal energized and in place.
The crystals that I will include right now are...
"ShaShasCo Energy Crystal" - Using a highly focused beam of light, the crystal will kill all lightly armored troops in a few hits without raping the terrain much.
"Revitalize Crystal" - By using NexusTec© technology, this crystal will be able to heal troopers and regrow lost limbs in a matter of seconds. Highly fragile, so keep rockets away.
"Yuzazi's Claw" - This crystal will fire a bolt of red lightning which will multiply rapidly and form what looks like a claw. Great for removing squads of troopers and ripping off dropship engines.
I will gladly add more crystals if requested. Needs to make sense though.
Also, I would totally appreciate help on this mod since my coding is...Terrible, to say the least.
Also, feel free to offer advice, suggestions, and whatnot.

Quote: "ShaShasCo Energy Crystal" - Using a highly focused beam of light, the crystal will kill all lightly armored troops in a few hits without raping the terrain much. That sounds sorta like the DSTech brain vault unit, which had a beam which instakilled pretty much anything without wrecking the vault itself. I don't know how well it works but if you could get permission from DSMK2 you could use that as your base. The best way to do this I think is by Lua, copying the actors inventory and replacing it, and giving the new perfect actor said inventory. I believe it's one of the BW system modules, I don't remember the name though. I don't know how you would work out the third item, or even if making a distinct claw shape is possible. Anyways, thats about the extent I can help at the moment Another question: Are you planning on making these crystals controllable, or used entirely by the A.I?

I like how sound those crystals, even I always develop military stuff, some magic can be handy... anyway, did you know HOW MUCH and HOW DIFFICULT lua require to develop that?

There will be a mixture of A.I and controllable. Naxete wrote: HOW DIFFICULT lua require to develop that?
I will gladly change it to just heal really fast if lua'ing it is that hard. Also, as much as I wanted to stick to originality with the ShaShasco, I will definitely ask DSMK2 for permission of his code...Or whatever I could borrow from him. I've also been thinking about adding "deployable" mini crystals whose powers will be drastically lowered to suit their size, while HUGE crystals will be pretty powerful. I've also decided to make a "power crystal" that will be needed to be placed in a secure area for some of the stronger crystals. This, "power crystal" will energize the crystals needed for full effectiveness. It could also be a brain module if that sounds more convenient. tldr; An energy source. Also, thanks for all the tips. I would love some more!

just a suggestion. a crystal that, when shot, emits a lazer in the direction of the shot. when it gibs, it would shoot little tiny lazers randomly then have a small explosion. it could be like a base defense, becuase any enemy who thinks it is smart to shoot it, would get him/herself lazored.

Reminds me of a bunker defence thing that did just that.

AAL defence grid? Not the same, I know, but a good basis to work on.

No, it was a block that when shot sends out some bullets to destroy the gun. viewtopic.php?f=83&t=10987&hilit=disarmer
