Pure ini homing missile
I heard it's been done; could someone show me the release and how it works?

Where did you hear that? So far as I know, it's impossible.
Lua allows input from either the game- actor.Pos, for example, but that isn't possible in ini, and without it, you can't make a homing missile.

The only way I know of is to make your gun fire an ACDropship which has an Actor in it with an emitter at it's back, thus when they turn to face the enemy they'll have the emitter pointing in the opposite direction they want to go.

Its actually quite simple, and easy. Just make the launcher fire an actor that poses as the missle and give him a weapon that propelles him towards the target that hes aiming at. BAM, pure ini homing missle right there.
NOTHING is impossible.

The original homing missile was by, I believe, blipflip, who is seriously underappreciated despite being one of the most novel modders in CC history.

Correct. Several homing devices were later made using that same technic, included my very own homing chainsaw.
Gee, it seems the advent of .lua is making people just forget about good ol' .ini.

I remember when that mod came out, everyone was in amazement. Anyway, it's pretty easy to make a homing missile without lua, it might not be perfect though.

Blipflip made a ini. only homing rocket launcher. Grif made the ABomb, which was a demonstration of how to make functional, controllable actors without ordering them. I made the manually guidable missile launcher, which, conceptually, was only a matter of putting one and one together. Blipflip's under-appreciation is probably directly correlated to the fact that he hasn't posted in years.
And CC48 tested a new version of my gml that had some Lua, and we discussed the ideal direction to take that mod in. Well I'm a lazy ass, so I didn't bother to do it. But CC48 made his own GML, with the exact features we discussed for my mod, without mentioning me. I was all stressed out at the moment about something irrelevant, so I was too harsh, and was overly bothered by that. But then I chilled out, and encouraged CC48 to keep the mod up, but he took it down. Then I won the mod contest, and a prize was a mod to be made by request, and I requested he rerelease his GML. And then he did. And then you read this.

NOTHING is impossible. Sometimes it's easier to have the actor invisible and a pixel wide, with a low GibImpulseLimit, but carrying the propulsion device which looks like the missile. It makes it less likely to drop its device on detonation, which doesn't look great. You have the propulsion device gib on low impulse as well, and have that produce your effects.
