Post Better Knife
Hey, so I have been off and on making mods and little things. The other day I wanted a knife to butcher zombies with so I made one. After some tweaking It can out alright, can kill someone not wearing armor in 2 hits are so.

But my real question is whether there is a better way of making it fire then having it fire an small invisible particle with a lifetime of .5 seconds?

That's what I have it doing atm, but I wanted a better way, maybe something that had it fire in an arc. Any pointers would be appreciated. I can post it as well if someone wants it.

Mass doesn't effect gravity. If you set GlobAccScalar to values higher than 1, it will increase its gravity proportionately. Decimals are, of course, accepted, as are negatives. You could also add AirResistance, which takes that fraction of the velocity away every frame.

So if I were to increase its air resistance it would fall downward, thus creating an arc? I am at school so I can't test anything, though if I remember, I will tonight.

If you increase its air resistance it will slow down faster. If you increase its gravity it will fall faster. A combination of the two should work. Air resistance will slow the effect of gravity, however.

You talking about a thrown knife or a swung knife? If it's the latter, then just set ParticleSpreadRange (measured in degrees i think) on the weapon to something rather high, and make sure the knife fires several particles at once with very low (10 ms) lifetime. This is a pseudo-decent illusion, though it looks odd against terrain unless you make it fire LOADS of particles, which would carve the arc out entirely instead of making holes. This would make it extremely deadly as well, though. Getting hit by 50 sharp particles at the same time is fatal for most vanilla actors.

Reference Darlos' pulse katana. Anyway, couldn't you make all the particles delete when about to hit terrain now anyways?

It is a swung knife. Yea, I like the sweep of particles idea. Will get that implemented tomorrow. When I got home, got caught up in WoW. Will mess with it later for sure though. Thanks for the help.
