Shotgun Pellets loosing sharpness over time?
Is it only sharpness that effects the damage of the bullets(is speed a factor in bullet damage/penetration)? Is there any way to make the bullets decrease in sharpness the further they travel?
I know i can do it the lame way by adding Tracer rounds that vanish after a couple feet.
They would be invisible so it looks like you got some range on the shotgun, but the pellets that last are really weak.

Mass, sharpness and speed all play parts. You could make the pellets slow down by using AirResistance, which is the fraction of the total speed lost per frame, or you could use Lua to make the bullets lose mass and/or sharpness as they flew. It'd be a fairly simple script.

Thanks. I'll mess with Lua now. I tried Air resistance after remembering the coalition mauler shotgun spikes. I started using the shotgun as a mortar...

You'll generally be wanting low mass, low sharpness, high speed bullets for air resistance to be a significant factor.

Yeah with high sharpness and mass bullets it's a bit OP anyways.

The thing is, if you have ridiculously slow rounds that are high mass and/or sharpness then people moving at speed towards the bullet will sustain massive damage, so weapons like that make fairly effective charge stopping weapons.

Re: Shotgun Pellets loosing sharpness over time?
i finally perfected the shotgun ranged damage reduction! it usually even bounces off armored targets at med-long range. low mass, low sharpness, high particle count and high speed. still a bit OP vs Ronin but the squishies are asking for it.
