Another newbie question
Is there any summary of what .ini can do? I mean there is a lots of classes, instances, variables, and so on, but have anyone ever tried to collect everything into one... dictionary, or maybe database, or something like that. I mean that if you're in reverse engineering (recoding and respriting things around), or in tutorial following there is no big trouble, but I think that combining such experience with theoretical knowledge adding features will be more effective. Lord Tim posted links to pastebin containing all this variables, instance names and such things listed in his tutorials, but they have no any descriptions to know what they are actually do (most is pretty obvious, but...). And wiki have pretty complete tutorials, but they are represented mostly in example+description form, which means the don't cover everything possible this way. So I can say about tutorials posted here, in mod making. It's all contains lots of information, but if I for example will try to make whole new faction without any reference to anything in base.rte I'll see that there are pretty much questions appeared. I mean that I wish to know what everything in .ini's do, what value it can take and how it have to be (or can be) placed looking in other .rte's. Kind of syntax guide and dictionary for CC ini.
Sorry for my bad English please. And for using term "dictionary", I know that there is lot of synonyms for this word in English, but I don't know how the meaning changes from one synonym to other.

http://wiki.datarealms.com/wiki/index.p ... _variablesThat's something we compiled a while ago. Some of them are a little brief on the explanation, and some really obscure ones arent there, but it's a step in the right direction.

Really good article, but one thing is disappointing. There is few hundreds of variables in CC, and it's almost impossible to collect and summarize information about all of them. Is there any point trying to do this, and any easy way to check what variable does (I thought, that if there is no complete variables guide, that maybe I may try to do it)?

Re: Another newbie question
The major problem is that the people who know what the variables do tend to be very lazy about going and collecting them all (like me). That was a list of variables compiled a while ago by another beginner moddder, for us experienced modders to define. If you want to help expand the list, find more variables that are not defined there and post them up to be defined, which can be merged into that list.

Nice idea, I thought about it, but I hate depending on someone's help, my English is far from perfect, I don't know how to describe variables in ingame terms. And there is more then two hundred variables present and only few described. Maybe i'll try to figure everything out by myself. But anyway thanks for offer.

Re: Another newbie question
Well you don't have to define them, just give them to us and we'll define them. Like I said, the most tedious part is finding the variables that need to be defined yet, so if someone does that I (and others) will gladly help tell you what they do.
