Useable Turrets?
Is it even possible?
I know turrets are possible, so are vehicles, but how about putting an actor inside one of those?
I'm bringing this up because I'm making a Halo mod (which is actually coming along quite nicely) and was wishing to add the turrets. And potentially vehicles...
Would it just be better to make a turret with a marine already built into the sprite and have it gib into a marine and the ripped-off turret?
If so, is there any easy way to add the dropship's scuttle option to the turret? making the turret out of a dropship is kinda lame.
EDIT: Just got a brainflash, what if when you approached it, it pinned your actor then transferred control over to the turret? And if you tried to select it, it would just push you off? I know the pinning part is doable because somebody (Lafe?) made a pinning-anti-dumbass-AI-oshitthere'sadudemustcrouch machine which, when you had sentry AI on and walked into it it grabbed your actor then pinned him (her).

Yes. All the things you asked are possible and don't require extensive shenanigans to make work.

well, which one would be easier? including an actor in the sprite or actually making the get in mechanism? i assume the latter would be some kind of *if blah, then actor pos x,y?*

can i make an example turret, publish it, and you can use the source code? i think i have an idea of how to make one via actor checking.
